Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

I'm looking to pick up some arrows today. It took me 10 years to lose/ruin the last dozen, so I don't remember anything about buying them. What do you guys recommend? shaft material, compact/standard vanes, determining length, weight, etc? Not trying to get anything cutting edge, just leisurely target practice and an occasional deer/turkey. Longest shot I would think about taking in the field is 40-50 yds. I was accurate at that range with the old aluminum ones, so someone sell me on carbon fiber if you think that is the way to go.

Looking for thoughts on a S&W MandP 15 Sport. Looks like the best bang for my buck.

You'll feel like you're still shooting your old aluminum arrows, but you'll be getting some of the benefits of the carbon cores. They'll be heavy enough to kill well and pull from your targets like your aluminum shafts did. They are a small diameter shaft, which I personally prefer for many reasons. Vanes, as long as they are durable, are really a personal preference. I shoot a more compact vane with good helical. Don't let sticker shock scare you, you're obviously not an arrow loser and will be dividing the cost out over many years. |

shot my 30.06 today and while I was at the shooting range, about 5 elk walked right across the range, lol! So I stopped shooting, and pointed the elk out to the range master and we got some binoculars out and watched them lolly gag across the range... pretty cool.

Since I have recently gotten posting privs...
I'd like you to meet Alex Smith, it's deadly accurate on the short targets, but can surprise you on the long ones. |

I had to relieve some stress today(because of the playoff debacle), so I popped off a few hundred rounds of 9mm and 45 at Centerfire Shooting Sports in Olathe. Did most of my shooting at 21 ft and 30 ft.
Springfield Mil-Spec 1911 Glock 19 (Gen4) This was the first time shooting my new 1911, and it performed beautifully. I should've bought one years ago. Very comfortable to shoot. I think I shot over 200 rounds with it, while trying out several different mags. I shot much better with my Glock today than ever before. The trigger pull is heavier compared to the 1911, but I finally got the hang of it. Can't wait to take 'em out again. |

Ok I took the plunge and ordered an AR DPMS. Now I need to choose a good scope for it, preferably under $200. Suggestions, I haven't bought a new rifle for several years. what's good nowadays and what's not? Not in a big hurry to get it set up but want everything on it when it comes home....glad the prices have come down and now to find some .223 to shoot!

My cousin has a kimber pro raptor II. Everything about it is just spot on I love it. If I had the money I'd buy one. But I'm in the ccw market now. It's been an expensive weekend as it is. Bought the wife an sr22 after I sold my sr9 and ordered a red dot for my colt ar-22.
