I'm not much on war movies for some reason. Appocolypse Now and Saving Private Ryan would have to be my two favorites.

Patton
Dr. Strange Love Gettysburg Full Metal Jacket Saving Private Ryan I love the scene in Gettysburg when Col. Gamble tells Gen. Bufford that there are about 70 thousand men coming towards them and they hope to hold them off with their 2 thousand until Gen. Reynolds arives with the infantry. Gamble to Buford: "Damn sure glad the rain stopped, wouldn't want anything to slow down Reynolds" |

Patton
Gettysburg Band of Brothers (Even though it's not technically a movie) And for some reason, I'll always watch Heartbreak Ridge if it's on. |

Full Metal Jacket: Most realistic Vietnam movie
A Bridge Too Far: About operation Market Garden WWII Glory: Great Civil War Movie about Mass 54th Black Regiment Saving Private Ryan & Schindler's List: The two most realistic WWII Movies... (Band of Brothers done by lots of the same people as SPR) Hamburger Hill, Platoon, Apocalypse Now (all really great Vietnam Movies) M*A*S*H-Korean War Hospital Worst war movie of all time was probably "The Green Berets" with John Wayne in Vietnam. That movie was made during the Vietnam era and was god awful. There was a story in the KC star today about the Gunny Sarge in Full Metal Jacket. His name is R Lee Ermey, and he's from down around Stanley, KS. He also stars in "Mail Call" on the History Channel. Check it out here YOU GRABASTIC MAGGOTS!!! http://tinyurl.com/49bm7 |

Jeez, not one mention of, IMO, one of the greatest war flicks of all time: Hamburger Hill.
Anyway, off the top of my head... Glory Apocalypse Now Patton Saving Private Ryan The Longest Day A Bridge Too Far The Battle of Britain Black Hawk Down Platoon Where Eagles Dare Tora Tora Tora Midway

This is why they make lots of movies...
“Go Tell The Spartans” is far superior to “Hamburger Hill.” xoxo~ Gaz Would not put HH anywhere near the top. |
