Chiefs kicker is suspect in bar fight

BRIEFING: HUDSON, WIS.

River Falls police are investigating an altercation Sunday morning at a downtown bar involving Lawrence J. Tynes, kicker with the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to the department's records, 27-year-old Tynes is a suspect in a battery that took place at Boomer's Bar on Elm Street at about 1 a.m. Sunday. River Falls authorities declined Tuesday to release details on the episode.

Chiefs representative Bob Moore said that nothing happened Sunday morning that warrants an official comment. "It's my understanding that there were no arrests involved," he said.

Ted Roughton, owner of Boomer's Bar, would not talk about Sunday morning's events but did say that players and fans often mingle in his tavern.

In a separate incident, two other Chiefs players, Saou-saolii Siavii Jr. and Gregory Wesley, were arrested the same morning on suspicion of disorderly conduct in a Minneapolis hotel. Siavii, a defensive tackle, and Wesley, a safety, were taken to the Hennepin County jail and released later Sunday.

The Chiefs are in River Falls for their 15th annual training camp, held at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Here's a list kickers that I think are still available. Any you would like to bring in? Remember, Colquitt doesn't do kick offs, so that probably eliminates guys like Morton.

Morten Andersen
Gary Anderson
Steve Christie
Billy Cundiff
Jay Feely
Martin Gramatica
Todd Peterson
Jeff Reed
Wade Richey

Classy.

Way to pay back not only your team's fans, but the good people of Wisconsin who just spent a shitload of money to improve your training camp facilities.

This brings back way too many memories of Marty's last season in KC.

I say if a kicker is gauranteed to make a field goal from 35 yds and in (ala Mortan Anderson couple seasons ago) we should bring him in. With this prolific offense, i think we can count on them to drive deep into the oppositions territory.

Morten Andersen missed a 31-yard field goal in the playoffs.

And do you REALLY want a kicker who has zero chance of nailing anything over 49 yards?
Also, Tynes was 12 out of 13 from 39 yards and in. He didn't miss a kick under 40 yards until the reguar season finale.

NEXT!

i'll pass

a 35 yrd field goal means your offense has to get inside the 20 ... that sucks.

morten's range gets even worse in cold weather ... he's not good for anything much longer than an extra point come december.

It doesn't really matter. Tynes is just as good as Andersen from 40 yards and in. And he can make 51-yarders without killing himself.

no matter how you put it 75% for a kicker is nothing to be happy about.. hell they shouldn't even be content with it. I think he has gotten a little to sure about his spot on the team. A little competition never hurt anybody.

Either way basically every kicker who is available right now has some sort of major problem. The only one who's been decent before is Gramatica and he's coming off a horrible year and surgery this offseason.

I'm not overly worried about this situation, people screw up and do stupid things sometimes. If there was another kicker out there I'd consider that but right now there isn't. So we'll have to wait and see if someone gets cut.

I also don't see our training camp moving as long as Carl Peterson is here.

810 said Wiegman was with Tynes and that Tynes was jumped.
However, they say the video tape shows something entirely different (Yep, that's right there's a video tape). They said the video tape shows Tynes throwing a drink at the bar patron then attacking him. A bouncer and the bar owner breaks the fight up and then let Tynes go. Tynes then hits the bouncer in the face and breaks his nose.
