A few random observations after reviewing the game

1. The Steelers are dirty pricks. Hines Ward, Heath Miller, whoever the one who sucks the penis was that walloped Cassel WELL after his shovel TD pass was released - dirty pricks. Late hits all over the place. We should have been moved up 15 yards on the kickoff after that late hit on Cassel's TD. For shame.

2. The Chiefs scored their first offensive touchdown (Pope) with a particular play. They ran the exact same play, with slightly different personnel, on Chambers 61-yard catch and run. I couldn't believe it. On the first snap, obviously Chambers was covered short, and the Steelers screwed up the deep coverage. On the second snap, the Steelers had the deep receivers crossing covered up, and Chambers came free underneath. Props to Haley for drawing up something that works so well?

3. Derrick Johnson is going to be the lead on GIF'D UP this week. Not even close. He missed so many tackles yesterday it made me sick, and obviously he screwed up the coverage on Mendenhall's short TD catch. **** it, he's a bust. Time to cut losses and move on. Belcher and Mays may not make as many huge plays but they have been FAR more consistent.

4. Branden Albert played a much, much better game this week. The tape might show that he allowed two sacks, but the second one was really Cassel holding onto the ball too long. The first was off play action. I thought other than those two plays he was very solid. O'Callaghan did not fare as well.

5. The play that everyone may be forgetting about is 3rd and 2 down by the goalline, right before we tied it up. They gave Charles the ball and there was NOWHERE to run. He created on his own, got outside, and 2nd effort got the first down. Simply put, a play LJ never would have come close to making. Wow, if Charles doesn't pull that out of his ass, does Haley go for it? Or does he puss out and Herm it up?

6. The OTHER play everyone may be forgetting about is the deflected pass by Tyson Jackson. From what it looked like to me, he had Heath Miller wide open down the middle with room to run. If T-Jack doesn't get a paw on that ball, Miller puts the Steelers in FG range with under a minute left in regulation. Sometimes, it truly is the little things.

7. Brian Waters is the most penalized guard in the entire NFL. He has seven penalties this year, but I didn't realize how bad that was until I compared him to the other guards (via Pro Football Focus and stats.com). He's washed up. I hope he's not back next season.

Ouch, how many times can GoChiefs be wrong in one thread? lol. But I fully agree, Derrick Johnson sucked big time yesterday! It was impossible to ignore.

I was actually at the game and watched Derrick everytime he was on eht field. yesterday he actually showed his athleticism but he did miss to many tackles but none of our other linebackers could get to the places where he is missing tackles. I think he goes for the big hit instead of just wrapping up. He did play more yesterday than he had in previous games. Thought he actually played decent almost well. But he just makes a dumb play here and there. if he could be more consistent he has the potential to be a very good linebacker as he can run and make plays. question is how much longer can you wait on that?

One play that stood out to me was when Moore (I believe it was Moore) was running on the sideline and DJ tried to tackle him high. Moore shook him off like DJ was just a kid on a playground.

Its that kind of shit that has me wishing we had drafted Rogers instead.

Regarding Albert, much better.
Regarding Charles, he should have been given the opportunity earlier in the season but better late than never.
Regarding Waters, I get your point, but our O-line has a whole list of things wrong with it and I definitely don't want to get rid of him with our current talent level.

Good games by Jon McGraw 8 tackles, 7 solo.
Studebaker 6 tackles, 5 solo & the 2 picks, unfortunately I think Vrabel will get his spot back.
Mike Brown 9 tackles, 5 solo
Brandon Flowers 6 tackles, 5 solo & the forced fumble. Stud.

Also very happy with our WR's.

HELL YES! One of the best sacks I've ever seen. I would not cut DJ yet. Too much physical talent to give up on.

If Charles had an O-line he'd look damn near like Chris Johnson. Johnson is more elusive but Charles is a starter for sure. he can take a lick and keep going with speed.

In my moments of greatest optimism, I'd like to believe this is true...but in watching Chris Johnson this evening, I just can't compare the two. Charles could be much better with a better line--no doubt--but I can't see him approaching the level of Chris Johnson. I'm not sure he even has the receiver-game that Johnson has.

I fully expect Albert to continue to develop from this point.

I said after the second game of the season that it would take 6 or 7 games before we started to see him begin to improve as he struggled with weight loss, technique and a new scheme.

Throw out the game he missed to injury, and it appears he is right on the pace I said he'd be on.

I expect he'll still have a couple of brain farts here and there, but by the end of the season, he should have allayed most concerns.
