Five Round NFL Mock

Round One

1. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford, QB; Oklahoma
- Bradford showing up at the combine ripped at 236 lb., and will throw twice for the Rams prior to the draft. He's their guy.

2. Detroit Lions: Russell Okung, OL; Oklahoma State
- Matt Stafford cannot see the IR list again. Consider that the Lions have to go against Jared Allen, Julius Peppers and rising rush star Clay Matthews twice every season, protecting the QB just got a lot more important. This is a no-brainer.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ndamukong Suh, DT; Nebraska
- The Bucs get lucky. Suh is a non-stop, all energy beast that will be the anchor of their defense for the next decade.

4. Washington Redskins: Bryan Bulaga, OT; Iowa
- I had Gerald McCoy here yesterday, but thinking about it, Shanahan places a low value on defensive linemen and would rather cut a guy than pay him huge money at that position regardless of talent or productivity. He's taken offensive linemen high in the past and it is a definite team need with Chris Samuels retiring due to injury. Berry would be an option here, but I think that they'll see if they can reclimate Landry into a more productive safety versus picking another guy at the position.

5. Kansas City Chiefs: Eric Berry, S; Tennessee
- Berry can play any defensive backfield position and would also be an excellent return man. His value to a Chiefs team devoid of athleticism and versatility would be nearly immeasurable. The only problem here is that he may never get off the field and he’d end up being a John Henry level Americana legend by dying of exhaustion in the line of duty.

6. Seattle Seahawks: Gerald McCoy, DT; Oklahoma
- It all starts up front and the athletic McCoy is a huge upgrade to the Seattle defensive line.

7. Cleveland Browns: Joe Haden, CB; Florida
- Haden immediately upgrades a poor defensive backfield. 40 time be damned – Joe Haden is the best pure CB in this draft and the Browns pass defense sucks dog nuts.

8. Oakland Raiders: Bruce Campbell, OT; Maryland
- Dead by Dawn. The Raider fans can only hope. Campbell is the poster boy for the Raiders – huge, ripped, fast, and he plays a position of need.

9. Buffalo Bills: Anthony Davis, OT; Rutgers
- Clausen is a distinct possibility here as well, but with the loss of Peters last season and the sudden retirement of their RT, the Bills have to take the best OT on the board. They can't come away from this draft without a top level offensive tackle. They will look to the QB position in rounds 2 or 3. The run on offensive tackles is now in full swing.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Dez Bryant, WR; Oklahoma State
- The Jags are desperate for playmakers on the outside. Bryant not wanting to participate in either the combine or the Oklahoma State pro day is an area for concern though. He was an absolute beast on the field though and it's going to come down to need (Jags really do need wideout help) versus questions on desire and dedication and focus.

11. Denver Broncos: Jimmy Clausen, QB; Notre Dame
- McDaniels would like to have his own guy and Clausen has run a NE type of offensive under Weis at Notre Dame. This could be a guy like Rolando McClain, but McDaniels is already standing in a pot of hot water over the handling of Cutler, getting a mediocre QB in Orton and the Marshall/Scheffler situation. Picking a potential franchise QB would go a long way in endearing himself to the fan base.

12. Miami Dolphins: Sean Weatherspoon, OLB; Missouri
- Dophins released Porter and Taylor is at the end of his career. Spoon is a brash but productive and talented linebacker. The Tuna loves these type of guys.

13. San Francisco 49ers: Trent Williams, OT; Oklahoma
- Frisco picks up a very talented guy with a lot of potential for their primary position of need. The 49ers have to get a good offensive tackle out of this draft.

14. Seattle Seahawks: Charles Brown, OT; USC
- Familiarity with Carroll's offense moves Brown up the board. Jones has recently indicated that he wants to play one more year, but he most likely will not check out medically and he hasn't seen the field since the mid-2008 season. The Seahawks need a LT.

15. New York Giants: Earl Thomas, S; Texas
- With excellent game speed and ball hawking skills, Thomas will be able to play either corner or free safety at the next level.

16. Tennessee Titans: Derrick Morgan, DE; Georgia Tech
- Van den Bosch is a Lion and the Titans need to find his replacement. Morgan had a monster year and if he falls this far, it's a steal for Tennessee.

17. San Francisco 49ers: CJ Spiller, RB; Clemson
- Spiller would be an excellent toy for the continued development of Smith. Opens up the offense even more and would give the Niners a Minnesota type of look. Spiller should have the same impact as Percy Harvin.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers: Taylor Mays, S; USC
- I hope that the Steelers cornerbacks are ready for increased work, because with Mays and Polamalu patrolling the middle, receivers are going to stay way outside for fear of decapitation and dismemberment.

19. Atlanta Falcons: Jerry Hughes, OLB/DE; TCU
- Hughes decided not to play in the Senior Bowl and focus on the Combine. It paid off as he showed amazing quickness and agility in addition to his speed. Non-stop motor and gets into a play in both the vertical and horizontal game. He’s a stud.

20. Houston Texans: Brian Price, DT; UCLA
- Price was amazingly disruptive this past season and penetrated the backfield with ease. Will help ease the double teams on Williams and give the Texans a potentially devastating defense.

21. Cincinnati Bengals: Arrelious Benn, WR; Illinois
- A big receiver with good skills. Palmer needs another target and Benn would be a big one.

22. New England Patriots: Rolando McClain, MLB; Alabama
- The Pats need a high quality player next to Mayo and get good value here in McClain.

23. Green Bay Packers: Jared Odrick, DE; Penn State
- Packers could use an immediate infusion of talent at the DE position and Odrick has all the tools to be a prototype 3-4 end. Was the Big 10 defensive player of the year and plays with intensity and a high motor.

24. Philadelphia Eagles: Everson Griffen, DE/OLB; USC
- Talented edge rusher with a great initial burst. Can play either standing up or with his hand in the dirt.

25. Baltimore Ravens: Golden Tate, WR; Notre Dame
- Ravens are desperate for another guy for Flacco to throw to, and Tate's excellent speed will help take advantage of Joe's huge arm. Has the potential to be a Hines Ward type of receiver.

26. Arizona Cardinals: Jermaine Gresham, TE; Oklahoma
- Gresham might have been a top ten pick if he didn't get injured. If he checks out medically, he's a steal at this point.

27. Dallas Cowboys: Mike Iupati, OG; Idaho
- Cowboys could stand an upgrade at the LG spot and big Mike fits their system to a "T."

28. San Diego Chargers: Ryan Mathews, RB; San Diego State
- Mathews had a fabulous college career and is effective out of the backfield as a runner and receiver. Same size and ability of Tomlinson. The Bolts don’t miss a beat picking this home town guy.

29. New York Jets: Damian Williams, WR; USC
- Former USC teammates are reunited giving Sanchez a reliable target.

30. Minnesota Vikings: Dan Williams, DT; Tennessee
- Pat Williams is 38 and wore down over the course of the season. He says he'll play another year, but the Vikes would love to add his replacement this year. The Williams Triplets.

31. Indianapolis Colts: Maurkice Pouncey, C; Florida
- Colts president Bill Polian called out the offensive line after the Super Bowl and he was most likely talking about RG and LT. Pouncey would play RG and be groomed as Jeff Saturday's eventual replacement at C.

32. New Orleans Saints: Carlos Dunlap, DE; Florida
- Dunlap has All Pro level potential. The Saints seem to get more out of their guys than anyone. Great boom or bust pic here that could turn Dunlap into the next Mario Williams.

While I have no problem with who you have the Chiefs taking... what is you deal with Brandon Graham? Did he kick your dog? NO WAY he falls to the SIXTH round when most people have him ranked as the 2nd or 3rd highest prospect at 3-4 OLB

I hemmed and hawed on that, going between Josh Hull and Angerer. Hull won out due to his larger size, that he's played inside and outside and was the leading tackler on a team with two other highly regarded linebackers. Hull also had a very good combine, especially at the agility/cone drills, showing speed and athleticism. Angerer has a history of injuries as well. A very good player, but Hull seems to be a better fit and offers a bit more versatility for the system.

Dorsey hasn't exactly been treated fairly yet. Lets see how he does with more than 1 year of a system under his belt. He played a position last year that he has never played before, nor was it correct for his style. He's not the type of player to just take up space. He needs to be used in a 4-3 as an attacking DT. I also think if Suh fell to us, he could be our NT. He's the only guy under 320 that could be our NT IMO.

I don't disagree that suh could be a nt... Its just a waste of his ability. Really, if he falls, how does romeo not draft him and take us back to a 43 or mixed sets?

2B. NT - Cam Thomas
3. OLB - Eric Norwood
4. CB - Donovan Warren
5. OLB - George Selvie
5. WR - Denario Alexander
5. SS - Kam Chancellor

Not a chance in hell this would happen. I would love a defensive loaded draft. I loaded up on OLB/rushbackers because as of now, we only have 1 in Hali. Depth is key. Vrabel sucks and anyone behind him is garbage. and a 3rd and 5th rounder (in this mock) is good value for OLB's that I took. We would be set in the secondary. If Flowers says Chancellor is great then I'd take his word on that and take him with our last pick in the 5th rd.

Really wish we could have signed MLB Karlos Dansby. That would make this defense sick.

Then next season load up on WR's in a great WR class and OL. I think this team would be set for a playoff run in 2011.

But like I said this wouldnt happen. I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of WTF picks this year.

While I can appreciate your unbridled enthusiasm over the offense's progression last season, I'm not as optimistic as you and I'd personally like to see maybe a couple more additions to that side of the ball. I'm pretty sure we could improve some of those offensive line positions rather than go into the 2010 season with the same crew that we finished the 2009 with.

But a team can never have too many ROLB's. Hali might get tired from being on the field all game long as our offense is unable to move the ball, thus having the additions of Graham, Norwood and Selvie would allow us to platoon that particular position and have a new, fresh rush backer appear in each quarter. That would keep those offensive coordinators on their toes for sure!

If Bradford is the pick at #1, no way they pick Robinson in the 2nd. You have them pick 2 WRs in the first 5 Rounds, along with 2 CB. No way that happens and the Rams actually have a decent WR in Avery. The 2nd Round pick would probably be the best DL available.

KC Round 1 - Bradford, Berry or Suh. If those 3 are gone then try to move down and take Earl Thomas, Dan Williams, Trent Williams or Spiller.

Round 2 - Pouncey, an OLB who slid to round 2 (Hughes, Graham, Griffen), Tate, Benn.
