TEICHER actually had the balls to write this!

Its' about time he grew some!

By ADAM TEICHER The Kansas City Star

So rookie running back Knile Davis, dropped a couple of easy passes yesterday at Chiefs practice, one of which was a screen pass that he would have taken for a long gain. So he’s dropped a number of other passes during offseason practice.

So what, right? It’s June, right? What does it matter, right?

Here’s why this should matter to the Chiefs: Davis is going to play a lot, the Chiefs are going to throw the ball to their backs a lot and they need Davis to be one of their big-play guys. For all of their offseason moves, the Chiefs still look short on offensive playmakers. They have Jamaal Charles, who don’t forget has an occasional fumbling problem of his own. They have Dwayne Bowe, who occasionally has a pass-dropping problem of his own.

After that, there’s some wishful thinking going on. Travis Kelce has shown some promise in offseason practice, but let’s wait on judgment there until he goes through the grind of the season. Donnie Avery has been injured since practice started. And I’ll believe that Jon Baldwin and Dexter McCluster are big-play guys when they actually start to make them.

So Davis, who is big and fast, looms as a key figure to them. And if he can’t catch the ball or learn to do it, scratch another potential big-play guy off the list, at least in the passing game.

That would be awesome if they introduced players with a song in the background. "Life by the Drop" would be his if I ran the Telefunken

I'm not a fan of Avery either, but he'll play for this team this year. hi ankle might take a few months, it is possible the chiefs cut him and sign somebody that comes available later though.

I think this group of WR's is good enough to make it work because Smith is accurate often enough and really, if for nothing else other than YAC, this offense is a possession oriented pass style and having these big tall WR's is a fit for it.

I expect Bowe to really beast it this season. His speed/breaks/routes were very improved last season once he got going. Bowe is going to blow up this season.

The rest of these wideouts are anyone's guess. WR is a position where players can come from nowhere and light it up, don't look back -- see Victor Cruz. And, there are good WR's that take years before they really all the sudden turn it on, see Jerry Rice.

I agree with Adam T re Davis' ball handling skills and I agree this looks like a risky move having Davis paired like this, but it is early and the other RB's are running the exact same plays with 2's/3's.

Frankly I expect Jamaal to take most duties this season. One way to handle this would be to use Jamaal the first half season and then maybe they get these other backs going by then, so sit Jamaal as much as possible to freshen him until something big comes along.

Exactly, because getting explosive playmakers the ball in space is frowned upon. When your best play maker is your running back, you definitely shouldn't throw it to him in space. How stupid of andy reid. Throw it down field every play to Baldwin. Much more sense. God, people are so ****ing dense. Like tom brady doesn't throw 400 short, and screen passes every year. Jesus ****ing Christ.

It does. Who is your best offensive weapon. JAMAAL CHARLES, who happens to have great hands. I wouldn't throw to him either.

Constantly injured. But IIRC didn't miss a game last year and was an integral part of the colts passing game last year. and, his first year in the league. He played 15 games, his second 16 games, his third, he played in 8 before playing in 16 last season. Yeah, really injury prone that guy is. All it takes, is a little bit of research to clarify things......Google is your friend.

Bowe's good, but he's not great. Why the Chiefs never go after guys like Welker and Amendola I'll never know. They would really help a guy like Bowe. Clock is ticking on Charles. I think this team is missing once again with Avery for 3 years.

Bowe needs to be paired with a legit speed guy so he can be the big bodied possession guy.

Google is also your friend that can tell you when Avery does actually play and is healthy, he has one of the highest drop percentages in the NFL.

So even when he plays he sucks. They will or should cut him after TC and just give the 2 spot to Baldwin or some UDFA and hope for the best.

Fact: Welker was shit outside the NE system.

Fact: Amendola averages less yards per year than Donnie Avery

Fact: You're still a dumb ass.

He dropped 7 passes last year in 125 targets. That's not high.
