Yeah if it was Strauss, its worthless info. But it wasn't. Search on STL today says it was Goold in his July 8th chat.

Q: In the 32 games he's played since the fatigue incident Carpenter is hitting .232, with .355 obp, .322 slug. Doesn't this show his only value right now would be back in the leadoff spot? He's not getting hits, nor driving the ball, but is at least drawing some walks.

A. I don't necessarily share your conclusion but I do think your numbers since his benching due to fatigue are relevant. I was led to be believe a specific cause for Carpenter's condition that was never enunciated by the club; hence, I'm reluctant to spill the beans here. But his subsequent performance both at the plate and in the field suggests something is going on. One of the team's most consistent performers simply does not resemble himself. And, yes, there is probably something awry with his swing as well. A little more loft than normal.

Honest question(s) as I've not followed the Cards close enough to know and haven't taken the time to look up the answers...
How does Holliday rate defensively in the OF?
How does Piscotty rate defensively in the OF?
If Piscotty rates a better defender in the OF and Piscotty can't play 1st, why not move Holliday to 1st and play Piscotty in LF.
What's up w/ Carpenter? Is he ill? a headcase? When the Cards played the Royals in the 1st half, he was absolutely raking. Then I noticed he didn't make a road trip w/ the team citing exhaustion. Now I see comments in here indicating that something needs to be done w/ him since he's under performing.
Apologies if all this has been addressed as I don't really spend much time reading this thread (or actually posting on this board).

We will make the playoffs. But with our offense we will make an early exit out of the tourney.

Hopefully Piscotty can step up. But, we still need 1B help. Either we write off this season or we are forced to make a move.
