Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)
A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.
A few quick ground rules:

Yup. They've made quite a few of the characters more likeable: Tywin, Sansa, Theon, hell.. even Cersei last week.

I like that they're making the characters shades of grey instead of purely good or bad guys. Makes for a more interesting story that way (not comparing to the book, which I haven't read - just a general statement).

Bitch? Why the name calling? I don't care if you like Theon, no skin off my nose. Or legs. Or fingers.

I disagree. I think throughout the books you start seeing characters from a different perspective. Not so much making them more likeable but where you empathize with them more.

I like Tywin in the books, like him in the TV show. His character is pure. He calls out faults in both his enemies and his allies and tolerates them from neither.

But it happens over a more prolonged period of time in the books. My theory is that, in visual media, we wouldn't accept the extreme perspective shifts on characters that we will accept in print. So the creators of the television series have to make all the of the characters a little more rounded from the outset instead of painting the character as a complete bastard for 3 books, then suddenly starting to show you his side of the story.

Revenge pumped out 22 episodes in its first season. It's a joke that GOT can't do more than 13...

Yeah, but I bet "Revenge" wasn't shot on location in, what was it, three different locales including Iceland. That gets to be a bit expensive.

Yeah, for as much money as this show must cost them to produce, I'm happy to get even 10 episodes a season. This is some expensive television.
