So, we hit a deer....

Only four of us went up to the game this week. Took the van of a friend of ours who was unable to go. Dad was driving, I was in the passenger seat, and two friends in the back. I was resting my eyes, when someone in the back yelled, "DEER!" I opened my eyes just in time to think, "Oh my god!" It was big. We're guessing it was an eight pointer. When we went back to get pictures, we noticed that the rack must have been ripped off its head. It managed to split the radiator.

Hit it between Clinton and Harrisonville. Had it towed to Clinton, and a friend of ours (owner of the van who couldn't go to the game) came and got us.

Pics to follow....

It's not our van. It's a friend of ours who couldn't go to the game. I'm wondering what's funny? I think it's really cool.

Anyway, the insurance company said they would total it out, but our friend wants to take the check and fix it. I guess the paint job was a pain in the ass to get right.

Typical insurance company, they don't like to pay to fix older vehicles. And I don't doubt for a second that paint job was a pain in the ass, it sure as hell isn't something you do in your garage on a Saturday afternoon.

That, and it kind of has sentimental value, ya know? Many a story involving that van. It's legendary. Plus, the guys who went in together to buy it put so much work into it. The cloth on the inside is Chiefs. THey even took some of their parent's red shag carpet and put in it. No way were they ready to retire the old gal.

How old is it anyway? Those Chevys didn't change at all for almost 30 years other than the grille, and it's obliterated. From what I can tell it's an early 90s model?

I have no clue. Let's see if I have another pic.....

Nope. None of the front. Here's one of the co-owner of the van/tailgate grill master (anyone recognize the shirt?) and an example of the cloth and red shag carpet (look at inside of back door).

Eh, it's no big deal, just kinda curious. I did a little research and it looks like Chevy used the stacked headlights from 84-91, so it's at least pushing 20 yrs old, but looks to be in great shape for its age.
