Daytona 500 is the most exciting track on the NASCAR circuit. It's also of the the world's ten most dangerous racetracks.

2010 Daytona 500: Jamie McMurray Wins -- McMurray held off Dale Jr. to win the Daytona 500. I agree with DW, "He looked like daddy coming through there." Jr moved up 10 positions in one lap -- going from 10th to 2nd. All Jr needed was 1/2 a lap and he would've won.

Daytona International Speedway

Fatalities: 28 (Drivers)

Major Incident: The death of Dale Earnhardt on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 is certainly the one of the most legendary. Racing for his second win at the 500, Earnhardt hit the wall at about 160 mph, killing him instantly. It was referred to as Black Sunday by the Sporting Press, a title that it keeps to this day.

Why It's Dangerous: According to the Orlando Sentinel, since its opening in 1959 Daytona International Speedway has claimed 28 drivers. The track is banked at 31 degrees in the corners, and 18 degrees on the start/finish straight.

True, but in order to get in via number of wins they would also have to be in the top 20 in points.

According to everything I could find they are saying he died due to injuries received in the crash. He was in a vegetative state after the crash.

This wreck actually was caused by a car not seen in this video.

Before this video footage begins, Jack Ingram lost an engine and slowed drastically. #43 Freddie Smith (the car seen in the first ten seconds here) spins and is struck by #50 Joe Fresson. Fresson is the car that comes to a stop further down and nailed by #04 Delma Cowart, resulting in the fiery crash.

Don Williams is in the #68 is the car seen at 0:20 going backwards from the wall.

Speed is airing a reflection on the 10th anniversary of the death of Dale Earnhardt in a one-hour special titled The Day: Remembering Dale Earnhardt Feb. 11 at 6:30.

Thought some #3 fans might be interested

It will run right before the Bud Shootout selection show

Wow ... Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica was seriously injured Sunday in a Rally car crash in Italy just a few weeks out of the start of the F1 season. Tough break. Kubica is rising star in Formula 1 series.

Guess not anymore!

Please dear God forgive me & please surpress my dark ass nascrap humor -- gotta go & logout! Fast!

Quote:
CNN) -- Formula One driver Robert Kubica has suffered serious injuries after crashing a car during a rally in Italy -- his Lotus Renault team have confirmed.

The 26-year-old Pole lost control of his Skoda Fabia car at the beginning of the Ronde de Andorra rally near the town of Testico, causing the vehicle to leave the road at high speed and hit the wall of a building.

Kubica was taken to the Hospital Santa Corona di Pietra Ligure, with Italian media sources reporting he suffered multiple injuries to his arm and hand.

Confirming the accident, Lotus Renault said in a statement: "Robert Kubica was airlifted to hospital this morning after suffering an accident at high speed while competing in the Ronde di Andora Rally and is currently undergoing medical checks.

"Lotus Renault GP will issue another statement as soon as more information is known about Robert's condition."

Kubica's co-driver, Jakub Gerber, was unhurt in the incident.

Kubica, who has one grand prix victory to his name and finished eighth in last season's Formula One driver's standings, is no stranger to serious accidents during his motorsport career.

He had to undergo surgery to his left arm after an accident while driving in the Formula Three discipline in 2003 and also suffered a spectacular crash in the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix.

The first race of the 2011 Formula One season takes place in Bahrain on March 13.

Miccosukee also had a contract to sponsor a driver in Nationwide full-time. It was crazy -- Teams were left without a sponsor for Daytona and beyond.

I'm mostly sure owner Jim Finch and Phoenix Racing took the "tribe" to court for breach of contract.

Hopefully, it didn't wind up in tribal court.
