I'd at least try and trade Cassel before cutting him. There are some teams that might want him and his contract was front loaded. Even if we were only offered a 4th-7th, I would take it.

ugh, Cassell is so bad. Everyone would laugh if you tried to call up and trade him.

Orton and Cassel are the exact same age. There is just no ****ing reason to keep Cassel over Orton. Neither is a long term answer but there is no question who should be retained.

Here's some food for thought:

How many of his incompletions were those red zone passes to the front left corner of the endzone? They must have thrown to that spot 5 times without a completion. There were clearly some timing issues. More time with these receivers and he probably starts completing those, making what was a good day exponentially better.

I hate to say it, but having seen what this team can do with him, it's hard for me to imagine letting him walk.

Cassel seems to have a better reputation around the league than he does in KC, there's probably some trade value there for someone. Let's hope. Watching Orton today put a finer point on how bad Cassel is - it's been a long time since we've seen some routine down-field completions you should expect.

I think he would have some trade value. The problem is his salery. I could see someone wanting him for a backup but not for the money he is making. Unless he agrees to a new deal I don't see him being traded. And I'm no football genius by any stretch but I don't see him starting anywhere else right now. I think he probably either stays here or gets cut outright.

Orton was great today. Best QB play we've had for years. But we know that guy's ceiling. We've seen him with 2 teams already and I'm not convinced after one game in which the world champs lost 2 linemen and were without their best WR. I know everybody is on an emotional high that we haven't seen from this team in a long time but jumping on the "sign Orton long-term" wagon is completely knee-jerk at this point.

It seems like it is either him or Cassel, so out of those choices it seems obvious.

I think its fair to say that "anybody but Cassel" is the sentiment shown by some fans.

I agree, sign Orton, release Cassel(could be done for less money than Cassel will make, I assume?). Let Orton groom a rookie QB, whether it be Stanzi or one obtained in the draft. Not a long term answer with Orton, but sure enough a short term! It sure was nice to see a QB wearing a Chiefs uniform, who could come off his intended receiver and find another receiver open elsewhere on the field!

I agree. I dont think anyone is viewing him as the "Answer". Id like him to be a bridge to a young QB for a year or two though.

His game yesterday was impressive. Might have been the most complete Chiefs QB performance in years. It definately was between the 20's.

This is absolutely correct. It also doesn't even mention the fact that Green Bay was pretty clearly flat in that game.

They were....it obviously wasnt that important a game to them (in the grand scheme of things). But lets give the Chiefs D some credit too. They deserve it. They played well.
