Which drugs have you used recreationally?

There’s a debate in DC right now that’s got me a bit curious about the people’s drug use.

I’m going to play fast and loose on what is considered a drug and how they’re grouped/separated. If you have tried any of these options, even once, please note it in the poll options.

Also, feel free to discuss anything drug related as non-politically as possible.

I've only ever smoked weed and took Adderall 2 times where I did nothing to me. Think I'll do shrooms at some point in my life though.

I watched the seasons change every time I opened the garage door and tried to leave my house. Had a friend come pick me up and when he parked outside his house to grab something...I stayed inside his truck. Had to listen to a baby cry for what seemed like hours before he showed back up 5 minutes later.

So of course, I snorted the whole thing. I tripped for 4 days in my one bedroom apartment, smoking weed and drink LOTS of beer, as people came and went.

When I finally came down and left my apartment, it almost most shattered reality. I had forgotten there was a world beyond my apartment door. LOL

I’ve smoke probably a half of a cigarette altogether over the course of my lifetime. Anytime I’ve ever smoked a cigarette, which has happened probably a handful of times, I was drunk, someone passed it to me and I just said ‘**** it’. I imagine that’s how most people get started. Thankfully it never took hold of me.

I drank quite a bit of alcohol when I was younger but never got crazy into it. First time I ever got drunk was when I was 17. I was late to the party in that aspect. I drank socially pretty frequently from that point until probably 23 or so. These days I will still drink socially and even alone just to take the edge off after a long week. I can’t say I do it often, though. For reference, I bought a 24 pack of Yuengling on sale a week or two before the Super Bowl and I’ve still got probably 8-10 of them left in the fridge.

I’ve probably smoke weed 5-ish times in my life. The first time I did it I was 11. I smoked with an older friend (13 at the time) and his 16 year old brother. Didn’t try it again for yeeeears after that.p and never liked it when I did. I get all paranoid, can feel my heart beating super fast and think I’m going to die. Oh, and ****ing cotton mouth that just makes it unbearable!

So, yeah, that’s pretty much it. I have no personal experience with harder drugs and have limited experience even being around people doing harder stuff.

Just a little history for you on draft day...because I really don't give a shit about my past and all of the dumb things I did.

Started smoking when I was 14. Quit at 24 when I was in the Air Force.

Didn't really drink until I was 21. I never really cared for it and still think weed is better.

Smoked weed since I was 14 as well. "Quit" when I joined the Air Force. Now that it's legal, I probably do it way less than I ever thought I would.

Tried cocaine probably less than 5 times. It was alright but never really thought it was that great.

Did meth for probably a period of a year to a year and a half when I was 18/19. When I graduated high school, I weighed probably 300 lbs. By the time I joined the Air Force when I was 20, I was down to 205 lbs. That was pretty much all meth. Hated that period of my life. If I would have stayed in my town, I would probably be in jail because one of my good friends at the time got busted after I left.

Did duster/whip its for a good period of time. That shit will ****ing kill your god damn brain. I wouldn't recommend it. It's the easiest high to come off of.

Did LSD once. No thanks.

I've done Oxy and Percs but was never really a fan.

Did ecstasy one time and it was alright. Probably wouldn't do it again.

I've done Adderall probably 10 times. I like the feeling of having energy, so it was fun. It was just hard as **** to get.

Dramamine...I have so many stories. Stopped when my friend had to get his stomach pumped after he took 40. But there was a period where I would take 15-20...trip for a couple of hours and then pass the **** out.

That's EXACTLY what meth is.

It starts out with "yeah, I'm getting shit done. I'm PRODUCTIVE."

And then the highs get longer and longer, until you're tweaking Monday-Saturday and sleeping on Sunday.

Once you get to that point, both with the stimulants AND with the sleep deprivation causing hallucinations, things get "scary". There were times when I was afraid to go to sleep because every time I started to relax, I'd stop breathing. I HAD to stay awake because I had to remind my body to keep breathing.

And while i've never tried Heroin or Meth, i was around it plenty enough to not ever want to.

Are you both in the “Cocaine was ****ing awesome. Like, TOO awesome where you know you can’t do it much because you’ll get hooked and **** your life up” camp? I’ve heard similar from a few different people when talking about coke.

No lie man. I remember being up for days on end on a bender. I was working a full time job and living with my parents. I would sneak out after they went to bed, go ****ing party and then sneak back in before they got up for work in the morning. Just day after day.

There was one time where I was downing water as much as I could and was probably on like day 5. I walked out of my friends house to go to work and vividly remember puking nothing but water in front of this couple who were walking their dog.

I’m the same. I’d love to know what it’s like just to experience it, but wouldn’t want to take the risk. I’m also a low key hypochondriac so drugs just really aren’t my thing.

I will never try shrooms or anything like that because I know it would not go well.

So, yeah, that’s pretty much it. I have no personal experience with harder drugs and have limited experience even being around people doing harder stuff.

Top three for me as well. I thought I was cool and joined my friends in HS with an occasional cigarette, but never got to the point that it was actually a habit. Smoked a pipe from time to time in college to be edgy, but haven't touched it in ~20 years.

Alcohol isn't a habitual thing, but I'm definitely a social drinker, and I do a lot of socializing.

Weed, though, is a near-daily thing. I was pretty wound up when I was younger and honestly think I had some weird mental health things going on. There are downsides to weed, obviously, but I feel like it has mellowed me out and actually had a major positive impact on my career. I only smoke late at night before bed, but the calming impact has helped me to deal with some pretty stressful situations with poise. It's not for everyone, but it's been great for me.
