All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

For those of you not watching tonight's game, Kendall has allowed three more stolen bases: one on his patented six-feet-wide-of-second-base-throw, one on his patented can't-get-the-ball-out-of-the-glove, and one where he couldn't even throw a guy out at third. He also accidentally threw Mark Teahen out at second on a throw that was only four feet wide, thus padding his stats and fooling millions into thinking he is something greater than the worst catcher of our generation.

Don't worry it seems like everytime gordon is sent down he hits for power and avg and then comes up and hits .200 for the first 10 games, its his MO

This is what AG does to Minor League pitching. It NEVER has translated at the Major League level. Until he acknowledges the flaw in his swing, and agrees to work on it in the Minors, he will continue to be a Big League Bust.

Was thinking today about the timing of the Hillman firing and it all makes perfect sense to me now. We got Yost in there just as we have a cupcake schedule for the next week or so. Build up hope with some wins and get some goodwill from the fans then we will come crashing back down to earth.

Kendall 0 for 2 on throwing out base stealers tonight. He only threw one into center field though, so maybe he's making progress. At least he made up for it by going 0 for 4 at the plate, including 0 for 2 with RISP.

Quick promotion for Lamb...

PEBBLES OF KNOWLEDGE:
While no game result came about on Monday, major news still hit with a roster move announced by the Kansas City Royals. Southpaw John Lamb has been promoted to Wilmington from Low-A Burlington (MWL). The seventh-best Royals prospect blessed with the system's "Best Control", both accolades according to Baseball America, was a fifth-round pick in 2008. He is scheduled to start Friday night's homestand opener against Myrtle Beach.

The 19-year-old went 2-3 and posted a 1.58 ERA over eight starts with the Bees to open this season. He struck out 43 men over 40.0 IP and walked just 17. Midwest League hitters connected at a slim .188 clip against the California native. Lamb struck out as many as nine batters in a single outing at Low-A, and tossed seven scoreless innings for a win in his final such start against Peoria on Saturday.

Apparently, fellow starter Jairo Cuevas had been on the disabled list since May 11 with right shoulder inflammation. Lamb's addition brings the Blue Rocks active roster to the league maximum of 25.

Sorry, thats a completely dumb thing to say. Say all you want that Kendall shouldnt have been signed, that he was paid too much, that its insane to play him so much and block Pena.

But among every day AL catchers, he is second only to Mauer in both batting average and on base percentage. He hasnt allowed a passed ball and wild pitches are no longer a problem, so his defense is solid. And despite one nut wringing his hands over it day after day, his ratio of throwing out baserunners is right on the league average.

Again, he shouldnt have been signed. He should not be playing every day. But waste of a roster space? Lets at least try to have some perspective here.

With Lamb's promotion to High A, Keaton Hayenga is promoted to Burlington to replace him. Hayenga is another young, projectable pitcher with upside.

Moustakas went 2-4 with another HR last night.
