Peyton Manning to visit Denver TONIGHT to meet with Donks

Peyton Manning will be in Denver tonight visiting with the Broncos, according to two NFL sources.

This is getting serious, folks.

Manning, arguably the most decorated free agent in NFL history, has the Broncos on his short list. The long-time Indianapolis Colts quarterback was released earlier this week amid concerns about his neck, a $26 million bonus payment and the team's opportunity to select highly prized quarterback Andrew Luck with the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

Manning, 36, has been cleared to throw by his neck specialist, Dr. Robert Watkins. One NFL source said Manning will also visit the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins after visiting with the Broncos. A source said Manning would like to make a decision by Tuesday, the first day of free agency.

The Broncos' top brass of John Elway, coach John Fox and general manager Brian Xanders, are currently in Stillwater, Okla., watching the Oklahoma State Pro Day workout that features quarterback Brandon Weeden.

The Broncos have the No. 25 pick in the draft, plus the 25th selection in the second round. Weeden, who turns 29 in October, is considered the second-best passer to Luck in the draft and has been projected to go between the Broncos' top two picks.

Manning will turn 36 in two weeks.

Ok, so ... I'm still not considering any NFC teams. I just don't believe he wants to be in the NFC - I concur with Marshall Faulk. So, what does this now leave...

Dolphins
Texans
Browns
Titans
Chiefs
Broncos

And, I don't hear a lot of talk about the Texans and no talk about the Browns or Titans. Leaving us with Dolphins, Chiefs & Broncos.

Things are quite interesting at this point and I'm prepared for anything - deep down, I'd like for Denver not to go down this path...

Manning visited with the Broncos for 6 hours and then went home. That's about it.

I look at it like this. They are trying to sign Manning for 2 reasons ONLY:

A)Pioli knows his job is in limbo and wants to win NOW.
B)To put asses in the seats.

Both of those scenarios show a discord toward Matt Cassel as the starting quarterback. They are basically blatantly admitting that we cannot win with this guy under center. He won't fill the stands, and he won't save Pioli's job. In order to salvage any hope of putting a check mark next to either of those categories, they HAVE to make a significant move at QB. I'm not saying there's ZERO chance...but I just don't see it. It will be Orton at least. Just my opinion.

Make no mistake about this, Pioli has a golden ticket with Clark. He's not going anywhere regardless of what happens with this team in the next 2-3 years. Clark loves him and when the Hunt's love their GM, they keep signing him to extension, and extension and extension.

Dolphins - doubt it
Texans - Other than KC, I think this could be the landing spot should Manning want another SB run
Browns - LOL, why even bother
Titans - Same w/ above
Chiefs - Makes no sense not to, unless he just doesn't like Pioli, or Kansas City. I doubt weather plays much of a factor...he's a football player, and it's not like KC is DEN, GB, or BUF
Broncos - could happen, but I doubt it. Manning wants to go to heaven after he dies.

Based on history, yes. But I really hope that isn't the case here. I just feel like if Lamar were here he'd bitch slap Clark and send him to timeout...let daddy take the reigns.

Why wouldn't you want Peyton as your QB? Are you saying you would rather have Tebow?

And what would 'daddy' do? Lamar gave Carl Peterson constant extensions.

You're really grasping here.

Clark loves Pioli. He talks about him constantly like a giddy school girl. Read The War Room by Michael Holley. That explains a ton.

There's no way Cassel starts another game here now. He probably feels like somebody cut his balls off.
