Alexander Douglas Smith: 2016

We wouldn't we want to roll out another Alex Smith thread?!?!? Listen, for the Clay haters, this will probably be the thread that gets him banned. He can't help himself, right? Let's go!!!

First off, as many of you know, I have been very critical of Alexander Douglas Smith. Wasn't happy with the trade, HATED the extension, and have burned him to the ground from the beginning. So ****ing sick of the retread QB's.

So, that said Alex Smith is my Daddy. I mean, I just have to own that at this point. Here's why. He's never had continuity in a system. That guy had a new offensive coordinator just about every year until Jim Harbaugh showed up. And he flashed a little bit. That said, it sure looks like San Fran traded their best QB to us in favor of some douche that's starting some thing all over the league, while riding the bench to a guy named Blaine Gabbert.

Alex is now in his 4th year of the same system and it's showing. He's getting better. Why is he my daddy now all of a sudden though? Because he proved that he's more than just a game manager. He made some ****ing incredible throws against the Chargers last week. The back shoulder Maclin throw, the Maclin throw where Jeremy was almost killed, The Spencer Ware throws. Twice he hit him downfield (like, way more than 8 yards!), and then finally the Kelce throws.

People can give Spencer Ware a lot of credit, he is deserving of it after the monster game he had. Make no mistake about it though, Alexander Douglas Smith personally put this team on his back and willed them to victory. 1 play at a time. 1 throw at a time. He's a leader, and it reflected in the locker room after that game. They trust Alex now. They trust that he has what it takes to will them to victory in any game.

Alex isn't just a game manager anymore. He's a game changer, and a leader. This team could go 6-10 this year and I'll say the same thing. He has the ability and he's proven it. Now let's see where they go with it. I'm officially a YUGE Alex fan. What do you think? I'll take your comments off air.

God damned you are an idiot. Andy has had success at a high level for many years Alex? Same everywhere with 7-8 different coaches guess why that is? Reid is part of the problem, mostly because of his love of Alex.

Chiefs nightmare scenario:

Alex Smith enters 2017 as the starter at the age of 33. We go 10-6 or some other bullshit record. Alex earns another 17 million.

At the end of the season, he signs a two-year contract extension, to lower his 2018 cap number (20.6 million).

Alex is the Chiefs starting quarterback in 2018 and 2019. The Chiefs don't win shit, and he retires at the age of 35.

During this time, the Chiefs don't draft a QB high because they're supporting their declining piece of shit.

31-year old Nick Foles, who has "performed admirably in relief of our former franchise quarterback" is your new starting quarterback in 2020.

One big reason is Reid isn't the greatest coach. His team's routinely lay eggs and how about clock management.

- That's certainly a worst case scenario, . . . but still so worth it just for your personal consternation.

Trollish love-fest aside, you can pretty much count on such a scenario for the Chiefs.

It is the KC Way.

The way of The Farce.

Smith looks done. Everyone ages differently and he looks like he's old and slow. I really think he's over but like all QB's he won't quit. I fully expect he will be awful in Oakland as well. Andy will throw the ball way too much and ignore JC most likely and Alex will mess the game up.

Relax, fans.. Smith will hang em up soon. Soon, as in after 2017, unless they get deep into the playoffs.

If he and KC can't get their shit together, he will be ready to call it, and move onto something else. I see him losing faith in Andy Reid's unwillingness for change.

I feel sure that even I would welcome the departure.

If he comes back in 2017 fans should be outraged and not buy tickets. He should be benched right now and if Dorsey brings him back next then he has accepted creating a losing team. Players are not stupid and they may not go public but they know our QB is not getting them anything.

I know most KC fans on this board would welcome a mutual departure...

One thing I learned through the decade of Alex Smith..

His fault is in not being good enough to excel with a broken, screwup of a team.

Might get you to 7-9 wins with that.. but until the team and playcalls improve around him, he can not lift things up more than that.

Then, sorry, you're a goddamn idiot who isn't paying attention.

What you should have learned in a decade of watching Alex Smith is that he is only as good as his defense and running game can make him.

He's the QB equivalent of Captain Dan after getting his legs blown off in Forrest Gump. If he's got a hoss to strap him to his back and hump his dead weight through the jungle, he's OK. Otherwise, he's just going to lay there and slowly, painfully bleed out.

There were many of us who realized that from the jump. How you can't realize it after a decade of watching this clown is just mystifying. And sad.
