Any thoughts on the potential ice storm this weekend?

This site seems to predict chaos and 2 inches of ice but I hope it's wrong.

https://www.facebook.com/WxSynopsis/...type=3&theater

Hope it's just a few flurries.

Quote:
I am very concerned when looking at the 12z EURO run from earlier today. Honestly I never seen max values being outputted on the EURO model before for Ice, so this is new to me. To say im concerned is an understatement. For anyone who understands icestorms and just how much can cause widespread impacts, all it takes is just .25 for power outages. If theres .50-.75 you are dealing with prolonged impacts, trees downed and extensive damage to power lines. Between 1.00-1.50 entire power grids become damaged. Widespread damage to trees. Roads impassable for days if not weeks. 1.50-2.00 power grids not only shut down but substations become damaged from the weight of ice accumulations building on transformers and pylons. Hard to imagine ice accumulating over 2inches. Once you get into these extreme values this is what you call a "catastrophic ice storm". Power grids can become damaged and take months to be fully repaired. So there is big time worries for central Oklahoma up to Ohio. We will be monitoring this potential and update when warranted. Anything can change, and if there is one forecast that I hope to god does not verify, this is the one.

They are fine. They always have been. They are built for the cold. Up to you if your dog is an indoor or outdoor dog. Either way, they will be fine. But city dwellers don't see it that way.

I've always lived in a city, but my step mother's side of the family is all rural and farmers. Most of them have a dogs, and they kept them outdoors almost all the time.

The cold feels like complete shit to us because we have skin instead of a fur coat (duh), but some people need to be reminded that animals fare just fine outside. All the time if need to be.
I left my cat outside when it was 10 degrees.

It froze to death.

But then again it was a pussy.

I've always lived in a city, but my step mother's side of the family is all rural and farmers. Most of them have dogs, and they kept them outdoors almost all the time. They would run them everyday. Feed them, let them loose to play etc. The dogs were fine. Honestly, I don't understand why people keep medium to large size dogs in a house in the first place. I think it's very strange. I like dogs, but they stink up everything they lay on and will destroy your house. I get having a hunting dog and/or to run around on the farm, but no clue why someone would want a full grown lab, great dane or something laying in their bed or couch slobbering on everything making everything amuck. But to each their own.

Well, that's not really true. At least not in all situations.

https://www.avma.org/public/PetCare/...et-safety.aspx

Of course, it's all about what you're calling "cold" and the dog's specific situation and health. If you're saying a dog can be kept outside in 20-30 degree weather, that's probably true for a large dog with a thick coat. It's (hopefully obviously) silly to act like a little Chihuahua would be fine if left outside in -20 degree weather.

For what it's worth, here's the NWS hourly freezing rain/ice forecast for the stadium:

So basically, it's probably gonna start accumulating overnight and largely end by noon. There is a chance of some icing both before and after that time frame, but it won't be much. I bet the game will be a light rain if anything.

We had about .10" of ice last night, and it made getting into the car an adventure, but they treated all of the main roads and they were fine. Roads were dry by 11am.
Untreated road were a different animal altogether.

George you'd be a happier Chiefs fan if you just stayed home.
