**FFToday Homer Draft** CP selecting for KC by Poll

Rules
1. You can trade, but only picks in this draft. Compensatory picks are not tradable. Players and future picks are not tradable. You should use this trade value chart to be sure your deal is close in value. If it's not, I'll either amend or veto it. Please prepare trades ahead of time instead of holding us up for hours during your pick.
2. If you will be gone for awhile and are almost up, please email me (or provide someone, somehow) a list of players for your pick.
3. Please don't start a ton of war room threads on the main site. That's what the contacts list is for. As much as you can, keep the discussion contained to the discussion thread and keep your picks posted here.
4. You should make a selection based on what you think the team will do, not necessarily what you think it should do.
5. Be patient, especially at the beginning as we get going.

Strengths: Has good size...Tall and rangy frame...Does an excellent job at getting after the quarterback and is a great pass rusher...Good quickness and has a burst...Excellent athletic ability...Very productive.
Weaknesses: A liability versus the run...Not a natural in coverage...Lacks fluid hips...Doesn't change direction well...Plays in a 3-4 defense that is perfectly tailored to his skills and may need to be in a similar scheme in the pros.
Notes: Overshadowed by Ahmad Brooks and Kai Parham at times...Would be a perfect fit at outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme...A little overrated due to his pass rush numbers and is basically still a raw, one-trick pony at this point.

FYI, they are pretty accurate with their mocks and they have him going 31st in the FIRST round to Philly.
I'm reading a premium service that I suscribed to and it states Blackstock
has been improving his play against the run and is strong in chasing down RBs in the backfield. Says his "weakness" is pass coverage. Suonds like to me he plays the way Gun likes his defense to play. In the other teams backfield. I'd curious as to when the profile you used was written. Oh and by the way don't we need to get more sacks from our LBs?

This looks awfully dumb to me, but that being said, I hope Matt Roth doesn't go to an AFC West team unless it's the Chiefs. It's bad enough watching Gallery play for the Raiders...
Aren't the Chargers moving to a 3-4? The 3-4 uses big ends (see R. Seymour 6'6" 310 lbs) and big OLB (see W. McGinest 6'-5" 270 lbs).

Draft Showcase on Shaun Cody:

Quote:
Cody is a versatile lineman who can play both inside and outside. He is very aggressive and plays the game with intensity. Cody has a quick first step off the ball. He gets good penetration and makes a lot of plays in the opposing backfield. He does a great job of using his hands to get off blocks, and has a variety of different moves to get to the QB. Cody also shows good awareness and stays home and makes plays on screens and draws. He has decent speed in pursuit and closes quickly on ball carriers. While he can play both DT and DE, he is at this point, a tweener. As an end, Cody lacks the pure speed coming off the edge and as a tackle, he lacks prototypical size and strength. He fits best as a 3-4 DE, but if he plays in a 4-3, his best bet is to bulk up and stay inside. He had an ACL injury as a sophomore but came back strong and has shown no ill effects of the injury. He has also blocked 4 field goals in his career.

Also Roth played a little LB in college before switching to DE.

Those guys got Blackstock running as 4.52 40 so I ain't putting much stock in them. He ran a 4.71 at the combine according to my source. Scouts, inc says he needs to improve when stacking against the run but they also echo what I posted. He'sa downhill in the the backfield type of player who is good in pursuit and an excllent pass rusher.

All I can remember about Virginia from this past season is their defense getting torched by Fresno State in their bowl game. For supposedly having some of the best LB's in college they looked very much like what we already have. Granted, that was just 1 game, but it wasn't much to see.

Robert McCune

Does anyone have any firsthand knowlege of Robert McCune, Louisville?

Combine: 6'0", 245 lb, 34 reps, 4.50 40, pulled a hamstring in his positional drills.

He is at his best when allowed to run to the ball. He does a good job of getting through traffic and avoiding blockers, but doesn't show the strength or ability with his hands to get away from blockers. When he gets to the ball, McCune is a very dependable tackler who is capable of making some big hits. On the blitz, he has pretty good straight line speed and explosion, but could do a better job with his timing. In coverage, McCune shows good awareness and enough agility to make plays. He can run with tight ends and backs, and also displays good awareness in zone.
He played the middle in college but, with his coverage ability and speed, could he make the transition to the outside?

Personally, I would prefer to see more sacks from our front 4 and more passes defensed and tackles by our LB's.

Of course, I've been spoiled rotten and converted to a base zone fan (the scheme that Carolina runs) by watching the Iowa Hawkeyes...

I did read where Blackstock really got handled in that game by an o lineman.

The Chargers DC under Marty is Wade Phillips. They've run a 3-4 ever since he got there.

And yes, Roth came to Iowa as a LB...
