It's either got to be one of them damn noodle houses or the Olive Garden. Personally I think it's probably the Olive Garden.

nof offense Big Daddy, but you were sorta clueless on that occasion. You wouldn't go into Ponderosa and order Beef Wellington while looking over the menu would you? Olive Garden is what it is, a chain, volume based Italian "themed" restaurant. It is basically the same as chilis, Applebees, Fazolis, and about 95% of the rest fo the joints out there. Really, there are only a few family owned places that utilize their unique recipes in any given ethnic food type in most mid sized to small cities. Just dont eat there. I didn't notice McDonalds, BK, Taco Bell, etc on your list. Talk about a rip off. 6 cents worth of crap in a bun or shell in a dirty floored and overcrowded environment with reeruns serving you. Hmmm. I think I will cook at home.

I have yet to find "authentic" Italian food anywhere here in the states. You can get some of the main dishes that are all pasta covered in sauce that taste the same, but other items like panini's, focaccia sandwhiches, and even Italian ice cream are a cheap rip off at best, and most of the time a complete mockery of Italian food. I would love to find a place that serves a pickeled eggplant panini. Or the Italian hotdogs where they have the spear roaster that toast the inside of the roll before the slip the dog in, some of the great fast food staples of Italian culture that you never see over here.

We have several places here that are good. I don't know whether you would find them to be authentic. I went to the sight of one to post what they serve but the menue they list is only their most basic regular stuff. The actual menue is 4 times that big.

I gotta say now that I have a kid I am going to eat out a lot less in general and the area I am in is loaded with good restaurants. Eating at home is much healthier and cheaper. I don't mind cooking that much either when I have time.
