SI: The Chiefs are a Trainwreck

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...dgments/1.html

• If there's a train wreck waiting to happen early in the NFL this season, it looks to me like it'll occur on offense in Kansas City. The Chiefs scored just two offensive touchdowns this preseason, and while they made the right decision to start the season with veteran quarterback Damon Huard under center rather than Brodie Croyle, points could be at a premium in September until running back Larry Johnson rounds into shape and the re-tooled offensive line finds some kind of form.

If ok, than please continue the nut nuzzling.

Nut Nuzzling?

AFC appearance, doesnt matter where... IF Herm is good enough to build a team here in KC and take them to an AFC title game, I will purchase you a box of your fav's.

If not, You pony up for a bottle of bourbon....

Deal?

Edwards wanted to get young and the Chiefs are younger. The addition of Thigpen means there are 11 first-year players on the 53-man roster. That’s seven draft choices, a seventh-round pick from Minnesota, two college free agents and one first-year player.

This roster is more and more becoming Edwards’ team, as 33 of the 53 have been added since he was named head coach in January of 2006. Of those 33, there are 19 rookies, first-year or second-year players.
No part of the team has been remade more than the defense.

Right now, there are 24 defensive players with defensive end Jared Allen on his two-game NFL suspension. A total of 18 of those 24 have come since Edwards took over. The only defensive players still remaining from the B.H. Era (Before Herm) are Greg Wesley, Jimmy Wilkerson, Benny Sapp, Kendrell Bell, Derrick Johnson and Pat Surtain.
Despite the push towards youth, there are 16 players on the Chiefs roster that are 30 or older right now for the start of the season.

The average age of the Chiefs starting lineup (including Allen) is 28.9 years. The starting offense has an average age of 30.5 years, while the first-team defense has gotten younger at 27.4 years. The defense has five of 11 starters who are 25 years old or younger.

The offense has no starters that are 25 or younger.
This year besides the 11 rookies and first year players added, there are eight other new faces, making it 19 total new players from last year.

I remember alot of people saying the same thing when I first registered on the planet, how it was impossible to make the playoffs, zero chance in fact.

mmmmmm, why is it so much easier to doubt than to believe?

Are we a lock? Hell no - I don't presume to think that. But we do have a better team today than we did eight months ago, so why can't we be more optimistic? Look forward in your answer and not behind.

This isn't a train wreck.

It's just that we want, FOR ONCE, a high-speed intercity express train and what we've got, YET AGAIN, is a coal train.

How can your root for the Chiefs to win and root for Herm to fail?

Seems like if Herm fails so do the Chiefs.

almost all these new players are depth

the starters are all veterans on offense

the only young new starter on defense is Pollard and apparently he's gonna rotate with wesley.

how many young guys are actually gonna play?

Bowe hasn't show that he's gonna play yet

Tank and Turk are about the only young guys i see that are going to play this year unless the season goes into the dumper and Croyle plays.

i imagine Bowe will see some time in the 2nd half of the season but

this isn't rebuilding ..... this is what most good teams do to stay young each year.
