We are officially out of the running for any of the quarterbacks this year, barring an unforseen trade that is highly unlikely.

Enjoyable win, but as 'Hamas' would say, "pyrrhic."

Guys, Kyle Orton is only the answer if the question is "name a quarterback who is better than Cassel but not good enough to get this team over the top."

Makes it easier for the Chiefs to take a shot with one of the second tier QB's like Jones or Tannehill in the first.

Still wont happen, though. But, it would be less of a reach.

There's nothing, I repeat nothing, wrong with Orton being the starter for a few seasons as another QB develops.

Problem is that even with a loss today we compete with CLE, MIA, WAS and possibly BUF.

Having a tougher schedule then all those teams even with a loss today we would need them to win atleast 1 more game.

MIA has @NE and NYJ left
WAS has a winnable games MIN and @PHI left
CLE has @BAL and PIT left (IF they beat ARI today)

So saying we left any chance to get a franchise QB is a bit of a stretch. At best we would be 4th team with a need at QB with IND, MIA and CLE infront of us.

We could go alot of ways in the first and pick up a qb in the second or grad Jones and let him sit for a year. If I knew tannehill would be around in the 2nd I wouldnt mind grabbing say Richardson or the best tackle available. Hell just take the best player available at whatever position.

The key to winning in the NFl is to continue to draft a develop. We need to keep having drafts like the last two for the next 2 or 3 years to get where our depth is solid enough.

2nd season he splits time with QB in development.

3rd season, if developed QB is not ready to start, Orton starts.

Apparently you haven't read many of the posts on this board or this thread which seem to suggest that this team can win with Orton period.

And we play Oakland and Denver, we could definitely win another game or two making that chance even more remote.

I have seen a few suggest he is the long term answer.

Most are saying he is decent short term answer.
