Hold on to your butts....

So...changes are a comin.

It's no secret that the current set of mods haven't been around as much as would probably be ideal lately. There's no blame here whatsoever - life is more important than ChiefsPlanet - but it's probably time for a bit of a refresh.

Based on some extensive behind-the-scenes discussions, I am pleased to present what I hope will be a solid arrangement for the leadership team moving forward.

AustinChief will, as always, be the final authority on anything involving the forum, but I will be (more officially) re-joining the leadership team as a formal admin. I'll still largely leave the everyday mod decisions to others, but I'll be more involved in high-level strategic discussions among the mods when trying to figure out how to handle overall forum direction. In addition, Bearcat will be moving to a similar role; he can't be around as much as he used to, but his technical skills are still valuable from time to time, and it's always nice to have some long-term history to help figure out the tough decisions.

As for the mods, I'd like to present candidates for your new mod team:
Bwana
Bowser
Dartgod
JASONSAUTO
TimBone

I know we've done a more general call for nominations in the past, but this time we're treating this more like a supreme court nominations process. We definitely want to make sure we have your (the forum's) approval on these in case we screwed up, but generally we feel like this is a solid group of guys who represent a variety of viewpoints, and we're really just looking to make sure there aren't any red flags here. Because of that, please give your approval or disapproval for each of these guys in the poll above. If we find that someone gets a lot of disapproval, we'll dig in a bit to make sure that that person is truly a good fit.

As for the "old mods," I want to make it clear that this IS NOT any sort of punishment. Sometimes, life changes, and devoting time to screwing around on a ****ing message board isn't your highest priority, and that's just fine. Those guys will be "retiring" to a newly-formed advisory committee to help generate ideas and address issues in the future. Hopefully that committee will help to make sure that any major issues affecting the forum can be addressed sooner than later. In other words, their opinions will still be vital to helping guide forum direction, but they just won't need to log in every day to see what people are bitching about.

Finally, as a preview for the future, the new mods and advisory committee will be working on some ideas to more broadly make ChiefsPlanet a great place to hang out. I almost hesitate to mention anything since nothing is set in stone, but in hopes of giving you all an idea of the improvements that MAY (heavy emphasis) happen in the near future, the following ideas are under serious consideration:
  • Creating a "mod actions" thread so that there is more transparency about what the mods do and why.
  • Adding new capabilities to try and control problem users in ways that are short of banning (potentially including bringing back the "Romper Room" where users can let their freak flags fly, limiting insane users to a certain number of posts per day, and things like that).

Those ideas will be discussed in more detail soon, but I hope it helps to understand that there is a commitment to finding solutions to some of CP's tougher issues moving forward.

So with that, let us know what you think about the new team in the poll, and feel free to ask questions in this thread. All of us just want this to be a great place to waste more time on the internet than is healthy, and this is the first step toward some improvements I think could make a huge difference.

Love and kisses,

DaFace

TL;DR - OMG HERE ARE SOME POSSIBLE NEW MODS! VOTE ON THEM TO MAKE SURE NONE OF THEM ARE IDIOTS WHO WILL RUIN EVERYTHING!!!

Theres nothing wrong with being a glass half full type, I was absolutely considered a huge homer early on... its all in the way you go about it that determines the reception your ideas receive
And you have many who are neutral to the stance on Smith/Reid/Dorsey who have stated that how I post is clearly not trolling. We have all heard from mods how they have given warnings to those who are going to far before giving them the boot, I have yet to be served one.

Take your ignorance and shove it up your ass.

What makes you so sure about that?

You forget the problem with this place are those who buy into this dramatic teenage girl mentality that when we even lose one game...everyone needs to be fired. If the board wants to participate 80% in anti-Smith rhetoric, then that's what you get. The assumption that I only defend Smith and not the staff and most players is simple ignorance. You are part of that crowd.

Oh and I'm gonna get up on my soapbox here for a bit.

Everyone listed above would be a great choice. What you all need to understand is the job will require anywhere from 1% of your energy and time to 40% on certain days.

Banning an idiot will bring the idiot's entourage out of the woodwork. You'll make some mistakes starting out but you'll learn eventually that less is more.

There is absolutely no reason for guys like Bwana and DaFace to not be mods here. They're probably the best we've seen in the history of the site. They are helpful and know when to act.

I wish I could've done more to help out on here since 2014. I've had two cancer scares and a lot of life-changing issues hit me since then.
Like I said, if I'm needed to help, I'm here to do so.

Good luck guys!

Actually I do. I added you as a friend once upon a time because I thought you had reasonable football takes. But lately you've been a nuisance and your discussions have been nowhere close to being interesting/thoughtful. IMO.

No, you didnt add me... I reluctantly added you when you requested it

But it only took about 48 hours of seeing how you talked to people I like and respect, for me to see the error of my ways and I nixed you for it

There might've even been times I somewhat agreed with a given point you made, but you were such an unrelenting jackass to the longtime members in question, that I couldnt bear it... this board didnt used to put up with noobs like that

Keep telling you for your own good, its not the message its the messenger

You simply cannot ever just agree to disagree, or take criticism without flying off the handle... you act like this is all life and death, that you must win every battle
