Not a rumor: Ryan Lilja may be returning to KC
EDIT: No longer a rumor. The Chiefs have reportedly reached out to Lilja.
We're three deep at guard, however. If this is true, I think this portends ugly things for Rodney Hudson's recovery. I think the Chiefs may be angling for a patch at center. http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2013/4...-of-ryan-lilja The Return of Ryan Lilja? posted by The Gentry Apr 06, 2013 I've never had inside information before, but today I do. It's weird - and it was from out of the blue today - but I have it on good authority that Ryan Lilja is negotiating with the Chiefs to return for the 2013 season. That isn't to say that he would make the cut for the active roster after training camp, but I'd say he's got a damn good shot at that. What would you think to have Lilja back in the fold? — I ain't saying, cause if I do someone's gonna get mad Last edited by Direckshun; 04-09-2013 at 02:22 PM.. |

So we draft a LT with the 1.1 trade Albert and draft Barrett Jones in the 2cd? Just awful thought but won't be surprised either.

So less than half a season of starting experience is too long?
So, saying that we should give up on "shitty" players with less than a half a season of game time is the same as saying we should bring in a vet as an insurance plan? Surely you don't think that less than half of a season is enough time to become an all pro, do you? |

is half a season enough time to go into a training camp just gifting a player with half a season experience a starting role with no veteran competition at it? that was the Scooter way for 4 years at almost every single position and look how that worked out. |

And then next year yet another LT will be mocked to us and all the sheepol will follow in line. CP will be littered with, "Move Joeckel to RT and draft the next Roaf!"

That's what I'M saying. This move is nothing more than a team signing a veteran swing C/G in case the young guys don't work out. It hardly means they are giving up on these young guys or that they are "begging". |

Well I am in the camp that if you sign a Ryan Lilja, that hes automatically the starter and beats out the unproven shitty young guys, because well, that's what he did here the last 3 years, why would this year be any different or why would any of those young guys get better. It's the same reason why I think they signed Donnie Avery, to start, Fasano, to start, Dunta, to start. They arent signing vets to play 2nd string. They are signing vets to play now.

Chiefs have approached Lilja about returning, according to source
April 9 BY ADAM TEICHER The Kansas City Star The Chiefs have approached Ryan Lilja about playing another season, and the veteran offensive lineman was receptive to the idea, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Lilja, who played in high school at Shawnee Mission Northwest and in college at Kansas State, said immediately after the end of last season that he would retire. Lilja, 31, has played nine NFL seasons, six for Indianapolis and the last three for the Chiefs. The three-year contract Lilja signed when he joined the Chiefs has expired, and he is an unrestricted free agent. Lilja said at the end of last season that he would have surgeries on his knee and toe that he had put off until his career was finished. He said at the time it was unlikely he would eventually reconsider his decision to retire. “Physically, you hit a wall and your body kind of tells you to start thinking about it,’’ he said. “I wanted to be in a place where I was at peace with my decision and could move forward and never regret it. I’m there.’’ Lilja was a guard for the first eight seasons of his NFL career before moving to center last year after the Chiefs lost Rodney Hudson. It’s unclear what position Lilja would play. The Chiefs have Hudson returning at center and Jeff Allen and Jon Asamoah returning at guard. The Chiefs also signed Geoff Schwartz, who can play both guard and tackle, as a free agent. The Chiefs begin offseason practice next week, when they hold a three-day minicamp at their Truman Sports Complex facility. Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/2013/04/09...#storylink=cpy
