This isn't Tyson Jackson, a guy who weighed 290 and was going to play as a two gapping DE, putting up 20 reps.

Hell, DaQuan Bowers has 20 pounds on Smith and put up 2 more reps.

He ran a 4.7 forty.

I remember being told that he would make the Combine his bitch and would be a lock to go in the Top 15 as a result.

This draft seems opposite of last year.

Last year had so much 1st round talent that it dropped into the 2nd round. This year has a ton of 2nd round talent that is going to push up into the 1st round.

imo this year you sacrifice quantity for quality and just trade around to get the best 3 or 4 players you can get.

If Paea wasn't trained to properly use his upper body strength to disengage blockers, it could be a big reason why he isn't able to do it. Some things seems simple, but there's a right and wrong way to do things.

The problem with Paea as a NT is that he's only six feet tall and has pretty much maxed out his frame at 295 lbs. It's a leverage issue that he's going to have as a nose tackle more than anything. He's very strong, but simply doesn't have the mass to hold the point of attack against a center and guard at the same time. At least that's the theory.

Kyle Williams is the best 3-4 nose tackle in the league right now and he's 6'1" and 305 lbs. Strong like bull. So, technically, there is a chance that Paea could actually play the nose position. He's not "proto-type," but that shouldn't be the sole determining factor. I'm sure that the rugby league that he used to play in is happy that he chose football.

Jason Pierre Paul ran a 4.71 and put up 19 reps.

Smith's arms are 35 3/8" long. That is freakishly long for a guy who is 6'4 and 1/4. That's 2 1/2" longer than DaQuan Bowers' arms. That's over an inch longer than JPPs. It's also one of the reasons why he's such a devastating pass rusher. Tackles can't get their arms on him.

The thing that makes Smith special isn't elite speed, it's his ability to use his hands to get blockers off of him. That's one of the reasons why he can rush inside and outside. He's still very fast for a DE, and he's got a good deal of explosiveness.
