Im taking things back...I hope the Chiefs tank the season

Before I said I wanted the Chiefs to be successful this season but now I changed my mind.

I honestly hope they fail. I know I look stupid for saying this, but I really don't give a sh*t. Please bear with me here and I'll give you my explanations as to why I want them to fail this season.

I just simply think now is the right time for them to do that. That is all. I have come to the conclusion and decided that we are not going anywhere with Cassel. Im not placing my hopes in him. **** it. I lost faith. He is not the answer. And I am now jumping on the bandwagon with the rest of the fans out there that we should draft a quarterback in the first round. Luck? possibly? It is wishful thinking at this point but I would never rule it out as a possiblity. You just never know.

But I would love and absolutely love to have Andrew Luck. The guy is a gamer and will be an excellent NFL quarterback imo. But what will it take to get him? Thats the question. Do we have to finish in the bottom 5 in the league? Or, will he go #1 overall? I don't know. I can't see us being the worst team in the league. We have too much talent. But for once, I want this thing to be right for **** sakes. We do this by drafting a QB in the first. **** these journeyman no good projectory quarterbacks. they get you nothing in the end except 9-7 or 10-6 seasons at best. which is exactly what happened last year. Instead, I want the homerun. In fact, I want the grandslam. Im thinking big. Even if it means sacrificing this season to ensure a better longterm future. Im relying on hope brothers and sisters.

I repeat, this team has a lot of talent. In fact, we have an abundance of talent. We have enough talent and good coaching on defense to be a top 10 D. We have a great running game, good young interior Olineman, good Wrs, good TE. The Chiefs are not that far off, believe me. But, we are missing a few big components that could easily make this team a failure and set them back a year or two. One of those is we lack a true legit QB, and a set of bookend OT's. Those are BIG BIG pieces to the puzzle of a championship team.

I think Cassel is going to lose us games this year. Teams will be prepared to shut down the running game and we will be forced to pass. We don't have the QB or OTs to make an effective passing game. I don't expect us to improve in pass offense. Plus, we lost Charlie Weis as OC. I thought he made up for a lot. Big big loss there. One of the brightest minds in the game. And we have one of the worst offensive coaches in Bill Muir running the show. The offense will sputter big time this season. The defense will do its job but will be on the field long enough to wear down in games thanks in large part to the uncomplimentary offense we have. Do that against good teams and you're done. And we are going to play a lot of good teams. So.....the fact, we have a tough schedule, this team could be in for a long, losing season. It seriously wouldn't surprise me? there is nothing I have seen this preseason to say, "yeah this team has it." Nothing like that. They have been a joke. I know, I know its preseason. As most would say, big effing deal. IT IS A BIG DEAL! We should care because its part of preparation. Just the fact that Haley is not concerned about preseason and treating it like scrimmage raises a big red flag. What kind of a ****ing NFL coach does that? honestly. Who has done that this year? Nobody except boneheaded Todd. **** him. If he ****'s this season up because of that, he should be out the door. And that may be worth it? It might not be a bad thing if we could get a REAL coach and quarterback in here.

Haley can easily screw this thing up. He makes a lot of boneheaded/head scratching decisions at times. Lets face it, he had a lot of help last year with Weis. Lets see how good he really is without a bright offensive mind.
I just don't have a good feeling about him at all. He is going to **** us up and run us down to the ground.

Guys.. guys...

RedThat just needs a few days to cool down. By the time the season rolls around he'll be rooting for the Chiefs to win as many games as possible just like the rest of us.

Hey, you know what?

I acknowledged the fact that I look stupid for creating this thread.

I understand that some fans are upset because a lot probably feel I have the wrong attitude or approach to being a Chiefs fan by saying stuff like, "I hope they tank the season to get an top pick and draft an elite QB."

But I will say this, you can't tell me that some people on here haven't conceived the thought of hoping for us to do bad this year to draft Andrew Luck. And Im led to believe that simply because they ****ing HATE Cassel and are dying to have a QB. They just won't come out and publicly say it.

At least, I have the balls to come out and admit it and was willing to make myself look stupid. Yet some people are calling me a pussy? lol

I understand what you're saying. I get the desperation for an elite quarterback. It makes sense why someone would feel like you do. Hell, we're certainly due for an elite guy, and the fans deserve one. I'm just here to tell you...losing to get the #1 overall pick isn't the only way. There are other future HOF QBs beyond the first few picks of the first round.

HOWEVER. If it's November and we're sitting at 1-9 or something like that...THEN we can start talking about losing to improve our draft position. But come on man. It's the end of August. Every team has hope at this point. Well...not Washington. But you get the picture. All it takes is fighting and scratching and clawing your way into a playoff spot. Once you do that, you never know. It's the beauty of sports.

It's time to give drafting a QB in the 1st round another shot. It's been 28 goddamn years.

I know.

Sorry man. Im just not optimistic.

I don't believe. I have no faith because I don't feel we have the quarterback. I look at most of these past teams that win superbowls and they have good quarterbacks. Not only good quarterbacks, but elite ones to say the least. Can we say that about Kansas City? Honestly.

And I just feel that quarterback is a big big thing. So this year Im going to sit back and know we are not going to win because Cassel does not give me any hope whatsoever. And it sucks. I feel like I wanna cry.

Good idea. 1 year too late. We can't tank after winning the division. That would get Haley fired. And to me, he's the most important guy on the field.

And another thing...Why do we have to fail in order to get Luck? We could go 8-8, miss the playoffs and still get him. Atlanta just traded 4 picks for Julio Jones. If you want a guy bad enough, it's possible. Especially with the new rookie salary cap.

did you not get the idea I was trying to express?

Im more interested in long term success and about the future more so than I am about this season. Even it means we lose to increase our chances of drafting a QB in the top 5 or 10. To GRAB a QB with ACTUAL talent and skills more so than the current one we have now. Its about being hopeful but in a misfortunate way.

The sky is falling!

Look Mark Castle improved quite a bit from 09 to 10. I understand he has looked like shit this PRESEASON. But, the fact is he played well enough in 10 to earn another shot at improving further in 11. If he gets better in 11 he can be a solid QB. The fact is if our D and running game is good, he should be fine at the position for the next couple of years...

Aside from those simple facts, your logic fails on so many levels. Here is just one example: You want to entrust the same front office that is 'failing' so hard in your eyes to draft and develop a big money QBOTF? Or do you want this year to be so bad that everyone gets fired and we start over AGAIN?

To me that is just plain stupid. I really don't want to start over AGAIN.....Im more than fine with the team's rate of improvement. If you look at 2008 we had the worst team in history (arguably, but I think so). Now, in 2011 after 2 full seasons, we have a glimmer of hope in our hearts again.

Why not ride it out for a bit before jumping off the ship?
