I do remember though telling a buddy of mine a few days before the draft how bad I wanted us to take a risk on Justin Houston in the 2nd or 3rd round, especially with the huge hole we'd had across from Hali.
Pioli wasn't always dog shit at his job. |

Pioli owes a lot of his credit to Romeo, who is a good DC. Romeo worked with Georgia's former DC and Houston played 3-4 OLB in college so it made perfect sense.
Regardless, Pioli still made some great picks. He also showed his dumbassery with the Baldwin pick tho. How on ****ing earth could anyone not see that kid's attitude problem? We still rocked that draft, even with Baldwin. Hudson and Houston are both elite players who are top 5 at their position. Allen Bailey is also one of the better 3-4 DE's in the league.

So damn ready for this weekend.
If we can hit this draft out of the park, we're gonna be set for the long haul. |

Yes, I'll admit we were lucky to see him turn into what he has become, but it's not 100% luck. Pioli still had to make the selection that many were passing on. |

Third rounders don't become among the best players in the NFL each year. Hell, the Cowboys took a similar risk on Randy Gregory last year and he blows. |

Priorities should be:
1. Corner 2. Corner 4. Pass rusher with physical tools they can develop. |

Piolis two biggest mistakes
He missed on head coaches and QBs. You absolutely cannot do that in the NFL

Doesn't matter. He was still a damn good draft pick that Pioli made, luck or not, as well as Eric Berry, Allen Bailey, Rodney Hudson, Dontari Poe and even Jeff Allen.

Everything.
Pre-determing which position should be taken in each round is a recipe for disaster. Taking the same exact position in the first two round is ****ing stupid. Selecting someone in the 4th round "to develop" into a pass rusher is beyond dumb. If this "pass rusher" had any talent, he'd go in the first round. If he has an injury history, he might fall to the second. But taking some random OLBer and trying to "transform" him into something he's not is just outright stupid and a complete waste of resources.
