Average depth of target for the Bengals: 6.3 yards.

There's ONE team worse than you fellas - the Giants. And I think it's fair to say they don't have 3 WRs as good as the Bengals have...

Tell me more about the team you claim to know so much about, sweetheart.

Ravens look like a mirage

New offensive system but if they start to figure it out and get a few more guys healthy one of the few teams who have personnel to remove Kelce and then we have to beat them with ?????

Dolphins have no defense and Tua is a system guy

They have talent and Fangio. If they get Ramsey back and start actually playing (lack of effort often seen when I check in on them) then their offense doesn't need anything other than get the ball out to speed, speed, speed.

Again, not saying we should not be favored but because of our lack of weapons we are going to make this closer than we need it to be if 1 or 2 teams gets hot at the right time.

Right now our offense is entirely dependent on a 34 year old Tight End who has been banged up a lot the last two years.
Good thing we don't have to play them right now I guess.

Let's see who has a lower ADOT than Joe Burrow this year...

Aidan O'Connell, Daniel Jones, Cooper Rush, Taysom Hill, Mitch Trubsky, CJ Beathard, Christian Kirk, Sam Darnold, Johnny Hecker. A real murderers row of Daniel Jones and small sample sizes from backups.

Or how 'bout we take a peek at Time to Throw among starting QBs. At the bottom of the list is Burrow at 2.36 seconds and below that there is...Tua. The end. That's it.

And Tua's depth of target is TWO YARD deeper than Burrows. He's throwing quickly because he has waterbugs downfield he can throw to and not because he HAS to.

Yeah - I'm just way off base. The Bengals totally aren't just throwing everything underneath.

Pass block win rate only means you sustain a block for at least 2.5 seconds. That's only relevant to what your QBs TTT is, and even then it's tied to P2S%.

You pulled it up because Smith is a holding machine and Taylor lines up in the backfield. More elusive QBs also make OTs look better than they are.

Neither of your Ts are playing particularly well. Neither are the Bengals. They're average at best. But they have a less mobile QB right now and they're still doing a decent job of kepping him clean. You all want to make it out like the Bengals oline is a dumpster fire.

Chiefs QBs have been hurried 36 times. Bengals 6 times. Chiefs QBs have been hit 29 times. Bengals 22 times. Chiefs QBs have been pressured 71 times. Bengals 42. Chiefs pressure percentage is 27.8. Bengals is 16.6.

Chiefs QBs have been sacked 6 times. Bengals 14.

It's your QB, not your line, that's doing a good job not getting sacked. But he's getting moved off his spot an assload of times.

Chiefs QBs have scrambled 19 times. Bengals 6.

Roll around some more, laughing boy.

A lot more designed screens, due to the QBs early-season immobility.

Babydoll.

it's not tied to P2S% at all. In fact, that's why it's used often - it's completely independent of P2S%. If they maintain their block past 2.5 seconds anything that happens after that is immaterial. And for that stat, a pressure is the same L as a sack would be so P2S% is completely irrelevant.

Additionally, Cincy's PSWR is actually ENHANCED by Burrows short TTT because if the ball comes out prior to 2.5 seconds but the lineman held their blocks, they actually get credited with a win for the rep even if they only held it for 2 seconds.

The numbers you're hand-waiving are actually BETTER than they should be for Cincy precisely because of the metrics you're trying to use to undercut them.

Yeah - you're just hitting it out of there park here, hoss.

My bad. In my haste to crank out a post before getting back to work, i didn't have time to spell it out for you. I shouldn't have used the word "tied to". It's all obviously relative.

Congrats on your PRWR. At least you got one now.

Anyway...PBWR is a useless metric. Some nerd sitting in a cubicle was asked to come up with a new metric to compare linemen so they took an average time to throw and made that a demarcation line. No context for offensive style or type of QB. Hold a block for 2.5 seconds, win. Hold a block for 2.4 seconds, loss. You can't even legit count it when the ball comes out before 2.5 because it hasn't met the minimum requirements for P/F but let's just 'give it to them'.

In the future, please remember; anything without context is mostly useless. Thanks for listening.

Chisel chest.

The 'context' is that the best WR corps in football has the 2nd worst ADOT in the league. That Zac Taylor has turned Joe Burrow into a Alex Smith AFTER he broke his leg.

Your awful OL has gutted your ability to throw downfield. You can hand-waive as many stats as you want but the context is there for anyone willing to evaluate it. All the additional context does is make your slag-ass OL look worse. But/for the fact that they 'give it to 'em' on quick passes, your PBWR would be even worse than the below average you're presently getting.

But I'm sure it's all coincidence.

The Bengals have 3 losses already. They'd have to go 10-1 to have a chance. I don't see neither of the Dolphins and the Chiefs finishing worse rhan 13-4. That would mean both would finish 7-4.

I've already pointed out that, by design, the offense is different early this year due to the calf injury. By.Design.

Let me just throw this your way and you can tell me how you feel about it.

Patrick Mahomes drops back to pass. Donovan Smith maintains his block for 2.5 seconds. At 2.9 seconds, Mahomes is sacked for an 8 yard loss.

Did the offense win that down?

Joe Burrow drops back to pass. OBj can only maintain his block for 2.4 seconds but it doesn't matter because Burrow released the ball in 2.0 seconds for a TD.

Did the offense lose that down?

Did both QBs require that their lineman block for 2.5 seconds?

If you answered "no" to any question, the stat is useless in any manner of judging success.
