That sequence perfectly captures what is so !@#$ing awful about this offense.

EVERYTHING is difficult for them and it seems like they just never come through with 2 outs.

Seriously, how does Grichuk get gassed twice by a lefty, once at 90 mph and the next at 92. They weren't at his eyes, they were mediocre fastballs right at his hands and he just got absolutely blown away.

Then Yadi does what Yadi does - first pitch hack and a weak grounder. He takes the worst ABs of any regular on the team and that includes whoever we have at 1b.

That was just friggen awful.

It's no more his fault than it is Pedro Alvarez.

Those 2 guys get more awful pitches thrown to them by the Cardinals than anyone I've ever seen. Alvarez is even worse - he'll get at least 2 absolute cripple pitches in this series; he always does.

Ramirez hit a grounder with eyes off a pitch that should've been drilled into a gap for a 2b. We got luck that was all he did with that ball.

Told ya. That didn't take long.

Sure, it was fast. It was also razor straight and belt high and centered. That was a kill-me pitch and Alvarez flat out does not miss those against us.

Keep throwing guys really shitty pitches and you don't get to complain when they destroy them.

Mess with them and you'll kill his stuff. It's the sling that gets so much armside run on his fastball and helps with the drop on his change. I also think it helps him pull down on his slider and turn it into that frisbee monster.

If you dick around with those, you'll have him throwing a lot more pitches like the one he just threw to Alvarez. His mechanics are loud but I think they help create the RPMs that make all his pitches move like they do.

I'm looking forward to putting 7 guys on this inning and somehow scoring no runs.
