I thought prince put on a fantastic show at halftime

I am not a big Prince fan, personally, but I thought he put on a great show--certainly one of the best in recent SB memory.

His music was changing, and it would've been interesting to see where he took it. Can you imagine an SRV/Hendrix concert? That would've been unbelieveable.

would've been great... I often wonder the direction music would've taken if all of the 'visionaries' of the late 60's hadn't bought so heavily into the drug and alcohol 'culture' and instead vested more of themselves purely into the music... but it makes one wonder how much of their sheer brilliance was actually brought on by the altered states of consciousness that they attained through drugs-- look back over the last millenia or so, most of the 'great minds' were on some sort of drug or another-- so is it the brillance that's amplified by the altered state of consciousness, or the wreckless lack of abandon (bringing on their ultimate demise) that makes them truly brilliant?

ah, that's another post for another thread on another board

This pretty much sums it all up.

I personally thought he did a great job. He mixed in a lot of old songs I liked as a kid, and mixed them with some well done covers.

He's not relevant to you personally (or me either anymore, for that matter), but Zach's link shows that apparently he's still relevant to a lot of people.

My only point was that your opinion that Prince's performance was not impressive....is, at best, subjective. And probably colored by some mono, or bi-genre focus. That's it, dude.

Indeed, I am not here to make anyone like some artist or another...thats just silly. Everyone has their tastes.

But the whole thing about him not being relevant was just so wrong.

For blue's fans...
