Since we're on the eve of Thanksgiving, I have a question for the CP:

Seems as if every person has at least one food that they just utterly love, but the majority of people turn their nose up at.

What's yours?

Here's mine:
I love black licorice.

It's my favorite candy. I like it even more than chocolate.

I grew up on Switzer's Black Licorice from St. Louis. It came in a candy bar rectangular shaped cellophane package, and when it was fresh, it was heavenly. When it was stale, it was like chewing on black rubber insulation.

I just found this stuff at my local Walgreen's:

This licorice is GREAT. Just as good, maybe better, than Switzer's.

If you like black licorice, try some of this. It's unbelievably good.

So, what's your stand on black licorice, and what is your personal favorite "weird food?"

balls,tongue,sweetbreads,boiled okra,gizzards,hearts,crawdads,froglegs....these are things i love but rarely get

I realize that British cuisine isn't exactly known for being delectable, but I highly recommend both Shepard's and Fisherman's pie. And Bangers and Mash, of course. And Yorkshire pudding.

UPS should be (better be) dropping off a few jars of Chesapeake oysters this afternoon. I like mine with a dash of salt and tabasco, and a squeeze of lemon. Mmmmmm....I'll have some raw tonight, then tomorrow make some oyster stuffing, Friday some oyster stew.

My addiction foods are the jarred peppers, pickles, olives, etc. I love hot pickled okra, pickled green beans, pickled tomatoes and, of course, pickles. My favorite jarred chilies are the little Mexican gueritos. I can eat those every day, though I try not to. I also like the cherry peppers, banana peppers and pepperoncinis. Basically, I'm hooked on the stuff you keep on the refrigerator door shelves.

okra--hated it as a kid, but love it now--fried, stewed w/tomatoes, or boiled.

also love smoked oysters and hearts of palm, but guessing many others do too.

Ah..my grandma buys the cransberries and cooks them down in the skin. That's the way I've always had them, and the way I really like cranberry sauce.

Pickled asparagus is good. Pickled brussel sprouts as well.
