ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that he expects the Kansas City Chiefs to fire coach Romeo Crennel.

As for general manager Scott Pioli, Schefter reports the Chiefs -- mired in a miserable 2-13 season -- are leaning toward firing Pioli.

If I had to guess, I’d say both Crennel and Pioli are going to be fired. They are a package deal. I think if the Hunt family had its druthers, it would give both men another chance. But the fan fury is so great in Kansas City, I think the Hunts will be compelled to make a move.

I don’t think firing one of the two and keeping the other will work.

Pioli has hired two coaches -- Todd Haley and Crennel -- since joining the Chiefs in 2009. I don’t necessarily think he will get a chance to hire a third. If that is what is the case, I think the Chiefs will likely make a clean sweep and hire a new general manager (Bill Polian, anyone?) first and then a head coach.

We shall soon see. I don’t think the Hunts will wait long before making a decision.

Coaching and QB have been the main decisions that have held this franchise back. How do you let the same guy make the decisions. If Hunt doesn't fire him he's the biggest problem with the franchise

The sad fact is that many thousands of fans will buy into the idea that a new HC, new QB, and a brand new defensive lineman is all we need and ticket sales will bounce.

What?

That makes NO sense. How exactly is Pioli making him a lot of money? Ticket sales will be the lowest in the league if Pioli is retained.

Clark isn't a stupid business man. Even if all he cares about is money, he knows that firing Pioli is the only way to get more money.

He's going to go on a media ass kissing circuit like he did last year to try to portray himself as a nice guy. I can tell you that other people that work in that front office (not the source of my info) were praying he'd be fired.

Clark just loves the money Pioli makes for him and he truly believes Pioli was mostly the brains behind the Pats titles.

He then said he didn't even see it happening then because Pioli would be on a short leash regardless and Ferentz wants job security.

I didn't get any info on the candidates, just that Pioli won't be back as a lame duck with a new HC.

I think you miss the point sometimes Laz, its not that Clark isn't making $, he just doesn't need Pioli to make that $. The Chiefs are a paid for franchise from the get go, making $ is as sure as the sun coming up.

There are plenty of cap guys you can use to manage salary $ etc...that's not even Pioli's forte.
