What's your favorite John Wayne movie?

No poll, just need an answer.

Cable/Satellite TV is full of John Wayne movies. You can't watch Turner Classic Movies any week without a John Wayne movie.

John Bonham died around the same time as John Wayne, so I guess you've never heard a song by Led Zepplin either?
Who the hell under 75 watches Turner Classic Movies? FWIW, I've only seen one John Wayne movie (The Quiet Man) and that was for an Irish Arts course I took while doing a semester in Ireland.

He was a fine actor, maybe not great but certainly better than most give him credit for. There are a hand full of movies that showcase this. He just didn't NEED to deviate from the character that he had spent a career creating. That character kept people coming back movie after movie after movie. That character made him the biggest star Hollywood has ever produced. He just gave movie goers what they wanted: John Wayne.

Guess I forgot to state my favorite earlier. You can include me in the Liberty Valance camp. Critics questioned Ford for filming in b&w at the time but, I think time has proven that he knew what he was doing (as he usually did).

Several of my other favorites have been mentioned already so I'm going to list one that never makes anyone's list: Wake of the Red Witch. Similar in some regards to Reap the Wild Wind (some even claim it was knock off), the Duke plays more of an anti-hero role. The Batjak shipping company from the film was the origin for Duke's Batjac film company. The spelling being slightly different with a c instead of the k due to a typo.

People who like to see good movies. Try it sometime.

I guess you have never then seen a single movie with Humphrey Bogart, Steve McQueen, Gene Hackman, Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Charleton Heston, Kirk Douglas, Dean Martin, James Cagney, William Holden, William Mitchell, Liz Taylor, Ingrid Bergman, Myrna Loy, Sophia Loren, Susan Heyward, Rita Heyworth... I could go on all day.

I guess you have never seen any old geezer movies like Casablanca, the Great Escape, the Manchurian Candidate, Bullit, Shane, North by Northwest, Dr. Strangelove, the Magnificent 7, Ocean's Eleven, the Italian Job with Michael Caine, the Philadelphia Story, the Grapes of Wrath, Cool Hand Luke, Patton, Spartacus, the Best Years of our Lives, the Man Who Would Be King.

Yeah, that channel really sucks if you are under 40.

You have missed many of the best movies ever made.

Tie for me: The Quiet Man, and The Shootist. Close second was Rio Bravo (my Dad's favorite movie of all time).

I have seen most all of his movies except a few of his bit parts in the early days. He didn't get a lot of screen time in those first ones-but did all the stunts and some amazing horse riding.

One of the greatest of all time.

The Quiet Man. And probably The Green Berets, but only because it was on TBS about ten billion times while I was growing up.
