Meet the new Conan.
Before he was the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger was Conan the Barbarian. The 1982 film wasn't in the same league as some of Ah-nold's bigger hits, but it remains a cult favorite. Today, the first trailer for the remake, starring the formidible Jason Momoa in the title role, hit the Web. Momoa, who will receive CinemaCon's Rising Star of 2011 Award, may be best known for his work on "Stargate: Atlantis" and "Baywatch." Several years ago, Momoa and Lisa Bonet made news after they named their child Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa. Momoa's mother later explained that Nakoa means "warrior." Should Momoa's version of "Conan the Barbarian" be a hit, interest in the actor with intimidation to burn is sure to rise. Indeed, he's already surging in the Search box. Over the past seven days, online lookups for "jason momoa" have flexed their muscles, jumping 44%. You can check out the new trailer for "Conan the Barbarian" below. The film is scheduled to hit theaters this August. http://blog.movies.yahoo.com/blog/88...-the-new-conan |

I'll call it now; the Schwarzeneggar reboot will be shit. It will be a cashing in of an old franchise, reliant on glitz over story and watered down by corporate groupthink. Ahnuld's version of Blues Brothers 2000.

This was some of the coolest movie news i've heard in a long time, picking up where the first left off, the grizzled warrior king on his throne.
I can only hope they dont try to PG13 it, go R & keep it gory. |

VS The weapons, armor and costumes in the '82 Conan were awesome. Not so with the last CTB. Mamoa looked good as Conan and his physique was a better fit for the part. Eveything other than Mamoa and the wide shots of the cities looked bad in the 2011 CTB. The CGI was unimpressive and not enirely convincing. The costumery and weapon/armor design in the movie was uninspired and nothing memorable. Ahnold's Conan had a lot of great armor and costumes. Ahnold had 9 costume changes and wore 3 sets of armor. both of Thulsa Doom's henchmen had multiple sets of armor too. Doom's armor was badass. the weapons they used in the movie are all well designed and unique looking. /\ /\ /\ There's nothing in the 2011 Conan that can compare to these.
