2010 Kansas City Royals Repository thread

All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

Welcome! "Grab a Brew... don't cost nuthin"...[spills beer on feet]

As was mentioned earlier, Jack Harry (KC TV reporter if you live outside KC) says whispers are beginning that Glass Family (Daddy Wal Mart Bucks) may be looking to sell the Royals. He's getting old and may want to sell off the team before the "death tax" increases next year, so his family can cash out before then.

He bought the team for around $88 million in 2001. It would probably sell today for about $350 million. Not a bad profit for ten years of providing multiple 100-loss season to long suffering KC fans.

This could be a good thing, as long as the new owners keep the team in KC.

In the past I've heard Portland and Indianapolis would like to steal the Royals. Portland has Nike Money. Indianapolis took the NCAA HQ away from KC, and the Colts from Baltimore. So I guess anything is possible. I don't know anybody here in KC who would pony up $350 million for the Royals, so the new owner would most likely be absentee.

Maybe we could talk Will Ferrell or Charlie Sheen into buying them?

I'm guessing there might be some provisions for the team staying during the course of their lease, given that the Tax Payers shelled out some serious jack for the New K.

If Indy is going after a baseball team, that's the first I've heard of it. They wouldn't even have a stadium to play in. Tax payers just shelled out for the Colts, and a lot of people weren't happy about that... plus there was a struggle over the Pacers and their agreement with the city. If you moved a team there you'd probably be on the hook for most of the arrangements. But this is what happens when message board idiots start rumors.

Simple googling says the Royals' lease runs through 2030.

Mark Cuban is apparently in negotiations with David Glass. He is reportedly offering $375,000,000 for the club. It is rumored that Sprint will be a minor shareholder and the Mavs will come with him to KC.

the Royals could only dream of getting a owner like Mark Cuban. Yea he is a clown sometimes, but he tries his hardest to put down the money to put on a decent team.

Who is going to play 3B? Bloomquist? Aviles with Getz getting more time at 2B?

A classic Royals move would be to call up Gordon and put him back at third.
