Honest to God, I have no idea what you're talking about regarding the schedule.

Kansas and Missouri was a fine rivalry. A 50-50 split all time is pretty much what you're going for.

Kansas is 49-35 against Iowa State so it's not much of a rivalry.

You're right; the SEC is exactly the same set-up as the Big IIX, and it was painful to take a loss in yearly revenue and sign over TV rights for 20 years to have a shot to grovel at the webbed feet of Florida.

Missouri may want to try for Chicago, especially if the B1G continues to struggle vs the Big 12 and SEC.

If you are a really great football player in Illinois, are you going to play for the Illini? Maybe Michigan, but they are on the other side of the lake, and both Nebraska and Ohio are 2 states away. Iowa will get some of them, but why not Missouri?

Recruiting already has shifted more than many (myself included) initially thought it would.

They have moved more than half the coaches that were in Texas full time into other areas for the 2013 recruiting cycle. Naturally, recruiting numbers from there are going to drop.

Now that schools are getting out, the out-of-state guys will start having chances to visit campus. Might start seeing some movement there.

In the midwest, it's pretty clear the move's immediate impact has been positive. Jake Campos is not a Tiger commit without the SEC move. Neither is Nick Ramirez, or likely Clay Rhodes (he's probably OSU bound if he's staying in the Big 12).

The Tigers should be a bigger player in Iowa and Illinois and Kansas and even in-state than they have been before.

Mizzou did well in Texas because they were generally seen as the top 2nd-tier school behind OU and UT, so a lot of kids who were snubbed by Texoma went there to prove 'em wrong. That sort of thing is less likely in the SEC, where there is no shortage of good football schools all over the south, vs going all the way up to Columbia.

The damage to their Texas recruiting, if there is any, will have begun the moment they left for the SEC, and we won't really see it materialize for several years.
Except that those kids won't get to play Texoma in the SEC, which means they will have fewer games that parents can get to. So, I think you're wrong on this point. It happened to Arkansas, it will happen to Mizzou as well. Mizzou may very well make it up in other areas, but to say it won't hurt is not correct, IMO.

Also, I'm not so naive as to think this same scenario might not befall us. If FSU and Clemson come on board, we could very well be playing them, ISU, KSU and WVU. That would hurt. It might be mitigated a bit more in that most years we will have at least one Texas school on the schedule, in some years one home and one away, because a 12 team is more conducive to rotation.

You didn't understand my point. I'm not saying Mizzou's recruiting wont skip a beat in Texas. It'll obviously go down a lot, and its up to them to make it all up somewhere else.

However, you were pointing at Arky instead of TA&M as some kind of Texas recruiting death-blow for Missouri. I disagree. I don't think having TA&M as their permenant cross-rival would have done much of anything for Missouri in Texas, all of that "damage" was already done by leaving the Big 12.

A trip to South Carolina and Florida every other year? I'm in. The coaches will just have to figure it out, we'll probably play in Oklahoma and/or Texas every year.

I see your point. I just think, with Arky's old SWC ties, they'll benefit greatly from the affiliation and recruits that would have considered Mizzou, will consider Arkansas first because they have the more established SEC program and play in a region that is geographically closer. I think MU could have made a better pitch in Texas if A&M was their permanent cross rival, but you may be right, it maybe wouldn't have made much of a difference.
