Chiefs have the #1 scoring defense in football after 5 weeks

We are only allowing 11.6 points per game...even more impressive is that the second place team is NE at 14 ppg. That's a sizable lead.

Some other rankings after 5 weeks...

1st in sacks
1st in passes defensed
1st in defensive touchdowns
1st in recovered fumbles
3rd in interceptions
7th in yards allowed per game
4th in pass yards allowed per game
21st in rush yards allowed per game (Philly game skewed this one)

Translation: the defense is killin it

Statistically speaking, and in terms of catches and yards, Jason Witten is one of the best TEs of all time. I think he's actually on pace to break Tony G's records. Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not he can match Gonzalez's longevity.

Outside of statistics, Witten is one of the most reliable TEs in the game and has been for quite some time. He's not quite as flashy as a Jimmy Graham or Vernon Davis but the only guy better at catching with his hands in traffic is Tony G. Plus he's never injured.

Romo has had a ton of talent during his tenure in Dallas.

TO, Dez Bryant, Miles Austin at WR.

Jason Witten has been a rock at TE.

At one point Marion Barber was considered good and Demarco Murray flashes.

Their offensive line is usually above average to pretty good.

On the other side, the defense has been ranked near the top a decent number of times. If I remember correctly, they had the number 1 offense and defense one season not too long ago. Plus they had 12 pro bowlers at one point maybe back around 06.

The Boys have always had talent. Their problem is deeper than that.

good call

i think it was '07 where they were near #1 in both offense and defense, when they went 13-3 but lost the first playoff game the Giants (who wound up winning it all)

Romo's dumb sometimes, and Witten HAS been a rock at TE...i never heard anyone refer to Marion Barber as "one of the best in the league" though, or give him praise anywhere near that level

Alex Smith has better numbers yet less talented perimeter players and most definitely a less talented offensive line.

I'd take Wilson due to his age, but as far as this season is concerned, it's splitting hairs, IMO.

Still wish we got Geno.

The thing about Witten is he already plays like TG. Slow, but very big and crafty. Productive, but low YPR. Who knows how much more his skills will diminish once he actually hits 34/35.

I'll take Wilson if age wasn't a factor (and it's really not. Wilson will be 25 soon, just 4 years younger than Smith).

Wilson's got a better offensive line, I'll give him that, but his receiving options aren't exactly lightyears ahead of what Smith has. Are Golden Tate, Doug Baldwin, and Ben Obamanu really that much better than Dwayne Bowe, Donnie Avery and Dexter McCluster?

Also can't forget the quality of teams he's taken down. He doesn't do it like Drew Brees yet, but the man has barely played 20 NFL regular season games in his entire career. He'll get there.

I'd rather have anyone but Fisher. Richardson, Hopkins, Reid or even Alonso. Someone that would have had an immediate and lasting impact.

This defense would quite possibly be legendary had they added Vacarro.

You missed Sidney Rice. When Harvin returns, look out.

But yeah, I think Wilson will only improve but as far as this season, I think it's a wash to date. Of course, that's subject to change.

I think Gronkowski has the best hands of any Tight end. He catches everything. He will never have the longevity of witten and tony g though.
