If? That's pretty much what the Big 12 has been for the better part of the last decade.

From 2004-2011, BCS championship appearances have gone to:

SEC: 6
Big 12: 5
Pac-10: 3
Big 10: 2
ACC: 0
Big East: 0

Except... by that time the herd had already been stampeded (similar to what FSU's chair did, and what Clemson's BOT are doing now, those fans are now ready to bolt), didn't matter what the arguments were for or against, the grassroots wanted to move come hell or high water, and the president had to bow to their will. When the decision was made at Mizzou, that bell simply could not be un-rung.

FSU and Clemson are facing a radically different situation which pretty much demands that they leave if they can.

I guess I didn't realize that Texas dropped the Longhorn Network and there was some long-term granting of rights before Mizzou left.

Why is Missouri so concerned with the Longhorn Network?

It's not like Texas can't afford to build anything they want at any time. They don't need anymore money.

The concern with the LHN was the televising and highlighting of high school games and when the other member schools voiced their concern they immediately dropped the idea.

Why even argue with them? They will just come up with some other completely irrelevant point to make themselves feel superior.

That was not demanded (thats something people on the internet were riled up about), and the long-term granting of rights was going to happen.

Mizzou left because the bell could not be unrung, they couldn't tell everyone "oh hey, never mind, everything's cool, we're staying" because people got used to, and fell in love with the thought of going to the SEC.

By the way, there are some internet rumblings that the BOT might come out and deny all the rumors of being interested in the Big 12. That isn't necessarily something to be surprised about, but it depends on the words. If its the standard "we're committed to the ACC", "we've had no discussions or contact", etc, no one's going to pay attention to that but ACC homers.

I would be very surprised if they came out very, very strongly, bluntly, and directly to say it would not happen, that would be different and probably stupid on their end.

It was going to happen? Have you forgotten about the whole PAC 12 thing, or have you gone full wickedson and started pretending that it never happened?

Travel costs in non-revenue sports will be what decides where FSU/Clemson go. For how bad of a fit people said Mizzou was, it still borders 3 SEC states. FSU and Clemson have some major traveling to do to get to any other campus, outside of playing each other.

I don't have mapquest out, but I would almost bet that Morgantown is the next closest.

Link me to anything but a rumor.

Please, I've been waiting months for validation.

Please.........any.....thing.

Big time schools don't run to other conferences. You run to them.

LHN assures the rest of the Big 12 that it will never have a conference network, which drastically reduces revenue upside for everyone but texass.

The Big Ten Network showed everyone how much revenue was being left on the table. Why sell your rights to ESPN when you can market your inventory yourself.

Big Ten and SEC schools will eventually be pulling in over $20MM per year just in tier 3 revenue by increasing the sum of the parts.

But go on chirping about how ku basketball on Metro Sports is where the "real" money is.

In Chip Brown's latest update, he claims that UT/OU to the ACC was legit, but they wanted MU/KU instead of Okie Light and Tech.
