Electronics 'It Appears Your Player is Having Difficulty Buffering HD" WTF!!!

Streamed an HD flick from HUDU last night. Halfway through it stops, screen says "buffering", get a message that says something like "It appears you are having difficulty buffering the movie in HD, would you like to play it in lower quality?" WTF?

Question: What spec do I look for in a DVD player that indicates if a player has the capacity to buffer HD at a rate that will not cause play stoppage?

Facking annoying.

What kind of DVD player do you have vail?

Buffering
When a video is paused, Hulu loads a small portion of the video into your computer's memory. The buffer progress bar allows you to see how much of a video has been stored, and when the bars reach "full," about five minutes of the video have been loaded. (Due to legal reasons, Hulu currently does not buffer more than a small portion of a video at a given time.)

Stuttering videos are, unfortunately, among the hardest problems to diagnose. A good rule of thumb is:

If both the video and audio stutter while you are viewing, you are most likely experiencing issues with your internet connection.
If the video stutters but the audio is fine, you are most likely experiencing issues related to your computer's hardware and/or software configuration.

Here are some general suggestions that may help.

Are you watching video over a wireless connection and your video is stuttering? If so, try it over a wired connection.
Do you experience video stalling problems only during fullscreen mode? If so, try lowering your desktop resolution.
Are you running any bandwidth-intensive applications on your own computer (e.g. Vuze, BitTorrent, Outlook, other downloads, internet phone services such as Skype, Vonage, MagicJack)? If so, you may want to pause these applications while watching videos on Hulu.com.
Are you sharing an internet connection with other people? If so, check to see if they are using any bandwidth-intensive operations while you are watching videos.

Thanks dd. I don't usually use HUDU, think I'll stream Netflix tonight and see if it still happens. Going to take the player back anyway, don't like the way blu-ray movies look. Getting an HD player instead. Was just wondering if there was some feature i.e. internal memory capacity that affected the buffering function.

HD player? They don't make HD discs anymore I don't think. What kind of Blu-ray player do you have I can check to see if that could be the issue.

Sometimes the signal strength is ok, but there's still a problem with the amount of data coming through, at least that's been my experience. Sometimes I have to power down my wifi and after that it works better.

Thanks, that makes sense. Maybe I hate HD streaming and will just stream standard def.

Just by doing some reading alot of people had issues streaming from Vudu but Netflix appears to work fine.

There appears to be a firmware update for your player you might try that and see if that fixes anything if you haven't already done it.

If your dvd player is wireless g, that is likely not going to allow enough bandwidth to process HD quality vid. I had the same issue until I upgraded to a wireless N router and wireless N equipment.

Now all my hd streaming is silky smooth.

Thanks for taking the time dd. Last night was the first time I used the player, first thing it did was a software update.
