It's time we ban pitbulls

Enough is enough. These dogs are way too strong & unpredictable. Plus, they are normally owned by the wrong people. Deadly combo right there.

This latest pitbull attack is absolutely heartbreaking.

A 14-month-old Wisconsin boy has died after a brutal attack by a pair of pit bulls, authorities said on Thursday.
Police received a call from Susan Iwicki, 30, on Wednesday saying that she and the young boy were being attacked by the dogs, according to local NBC affiliate WMTV. Iwicki told police that she and the boy had each sustained injuries.

The boy died of his injuries at a Milwaukee area hospital later on Wednesday, the Walworth County sheriff’s office said, according to The Associated Press.
The boy had the “biggest eyes, great smile,” family friend Valerie Brylow told local affiliate WTMJ. “He was a great little boy.”
“He is adorable, absolutely adorable,” Nicole Jennison, another family friend told the station.
The boy’s name has not been released, and an investigation continues. Both of the pit bulls were removed from the property and euthanized on Wednesday, WMTV reported.
The fatal dog attack was the first in Wisconsin in a decade, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

This is the main point that people do not seem to understand, it is the same reason why you can own a handgun but can't legally buy a mini-gun. All dogs can snap, but the damage and brutality of a pit attack is miles above other breeds.

They usually are, their owners let them get away with it because they weigh ten lbs and can't really do much damage. If someone rings your doorbell and a 5lb poodle foams at the mouth no big deal, German Shepherd or something else is a little more concerning.

The only real problem with pits is that they are the favored dog of the insecure wanna be tough guy.

I mean in my neighborhood I'd say that half of the dogs are pit bulls.

I don't have a beef with the dog. They're not even in the top 10 most aggressive dogs. They're just commonly owned by low IQ and low class morons who view their dog as an extension of their penis. They just want to say "my dog can beat up your dog".

I once watched a Yorkshire Terrier rip a finger wide open. Have you compared pit bulls bite and tooth strength to a yorky? I bet pound for pound the yorky gives a pit a run for its money. Why else does Cesaer the whisper not own a yorky?

I tend to have the giants: Mastiffs, Great Danes, St. Bernards and the like. I have to be extremely vigilant in public, because all it takes is one idiot pissing off a dog of that size and I'll be dealing with death/significant damage if I'm not quick enough to diffuse the situation. If I'm dealing with something as relatively small as a pit bull, I can just use the leash to make him go airborne, and I've had to do that in the past. Frankly, I get a chuckle out of people worrying about the "pit bull" problem, because most of the attacks are avoidable.

Don't leave children alone with dogs, and always monitor their play
Never assume any dog is friendly, regardless of what the owner claims
Never reach for a dog until he's checked you out and made it clear he's ok with you
Never run from a dog unless there's safety within a few feet of you
Don't walk up to strange dogs
Never look a strange dog in the eye

Follow those rules and you eliminate the vast majority of fatal dog attacks, regardless of breed.

owner not breed is not bullshit. you don't think the inordinate amount of complete morons getting pits and teaching them to be hostile hasn't contributed to the hatred of the breed??? of course it has.

give me 10 pit puppies. I raise them and most if not all will be family friendly. per my previous post though, some dogs just don't play nice, regardless of breed or owner.

some dogs are bad. but not all dogs of a given breed are bad, and furthermore, as in the pit situation, the majority of the bad dogs (not ALL) is a direct result of the owners.

I take it your argument on "Daddy" is that Cesar didn't have him from a puppy? I don't know dude, 15+ years, one of the best trainers in the world? I mean I can let that slide, but not without a heaping helping side of skepticism.

I look forward to meeting your well-trained and behaved CMD in a few years (actually I don't), a lot of it is breed. I know the community has had a lot to do with the pit problems, but the community chose pits for a very good reason.

I've readily admitted that some dogs just aren't nice. I've had one myself. some dogs even Cesar can't turn from the dark side.

I'd not discount a dog bred to kill wolves so easily...

CMD eat wolves for breakfast, plus I've seen plenty of the Irish at dog parks, if you ever see a CMD at a dog park, run for your life.

Yeah dude, just thought you'd be interested in them as I was. No pissing match, because frankly I don't think it's possible. Thanks for saving me from a sea of "pussy" in this thread. One question for you, if you like large breeds do you want a Bernie? I don't even really like large breeds but I have never met a Bernie that wasn't a gorgeous animal and extremely happy/friendly. Plus relatively little to no drool compared to the other big boys.
