Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

I watched "Primer" last night........

I understand 90% of the movie, but I think I blew a brain fuse in the process.

"A reporter returns to his Florida hometown to investigate a case involving a death row inmate. "

Checked out The Iron Lady this afternoon, incredible movie, I was drawn in instantly... Meryl Streep is in another league entirely, there isn't an actress alive who's even close to her and as a matter of fact, i'm really not sure theres a living male actor in her class.

She totally owns that role, you'd swear she WAS Thatcher, the scene where she lights into her own cabinet is just incredible, that lady could reeeally chew some ass.

Theres also plenty of that famous dry Brit wit thanks to the role of Dennis, her husband, he's worth a few chuckles throughout.

My one and only complaint is that at 105 minutes it was too short, I could've easily watched another hour of this.

Has anyone seen "The Artist"? I keep trying to convince my wife to watch it, she thinks it looks like a boring old time movie.

Daniel Day-Lewis is the male equivalent.

Jodie Foster or Nicole Kidman would run a very distant 2nd place, Streep is in a class all her own.

I watched Oblivion this weekend. While I figured I would enjoy it from the premise of being sci-fi with likely great visuals I was a little surprised just how much I did. The plot is a bit derivative but everything is put together so well with the execution that you really don't notice.

I loved this flick.

I'm a sci-fi nerd but really this is a story about two friends and how that relationship changes when they're given power.

I really wanted to see Shane Carruth blow up after that but Upstream Color was the biggest waste of time since Ghostbusters II...

The wife and I watched Don Jon yesterday. A damn good movie. JGL is really solidifying himself of a top-tier Hollywood talent, and he knocked his directorial debut out of the park. The cast all did a good job, and JGL showed some definite style in his dramedy about a man who watches a lot of porn.
