New White House Report Shows Deficit Projections Have Doubled

The White House Office of Management and Budget released its annual mid-session review Friday, updating deficit projections in its fiscal year 2019 budget request. The report projected deficits will reach $1.085 trillion in FY 2019 under their budget, which is double the $526 billion called for in their FY 2018 budget.

Check out how far deficits fell under President obama, and president clinton. Then look at how they've exploded under bush and trump. Republicans pretend to care about deficits when democrats are in the white house, and the democrats are fools for taking them seriously.

It's usually when we have one party rule the spending worsened. BOTH parties are responsible.

Democrats handle it with more taxation. They don't acknowledge that it's really a spending problem. Furthermore, the Democrats, like eDave, promote more entitlement and social spending. It's never the money—it's what each side wants to spend it on. With the Right it's a military suited for global hegemony. BOTH are expensive. BOTH needs to be addressed.
Partially correct. The best solution would be to find an optimal level of tax rates and then just leave the tax code the hell alone for at least 20 years. You know, kind of like in 1990s, when Bill Clinton was President. The tax rates were perfect, the economy was booming, and the government actually started running budget SURPLUSES that increased every year of the Clinton Presidency. It's extreme foolish tribalism to just take a simplistic view of those times and give all of the credit to the Republicans. Clinton is a Democrat, and he was able to get a lot of his economic policies implemented by working WITH the opposing party that controlled Congress. We don't see that today. Ever. Clinton was the last President to reach across the aisle and make positive, pragmatic deals with the opposing political party.

As soon as the Republicans controlled Congress and took control of the White House in 2000, they foolishly implemented the Bush tax cuts. By the time Bush left office, we had trillion dollar annual deficits, which is exactly what we are facing now with the Trump tax cuts. Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

It's far better to have one party control Congress and the other party control the Presidency. FAR BETTER. But if one party or the other is going to control everything, the Republicans have historically had a FAR WORSE track record. They are proving that again right now.

The GOP is the party of fiscal irresponsibility. You guys won't ever admit it, but it's true.

One thing people tend to forget about the Clinton years, he had the luxury of presiding over the last years of pre Nafta America. He had a crap load more industry to draw taxes from (before he got tired of America being wealthy and signed that crap into law)

Clinton pretty much put every president after him behind the 8 ball, but he shined like a diamond in a goat's ass, so it's cool

Hey ****tards :

We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Taxes were cut, but are leading to more revenue after quarterly business deposits...

The U.S. government posted the highest surplus on record in April, although the federal deficit over the past several months widened as spending rose along with revenues.

You idiots keep saying this as if the current GOP controlled house and Senate arent overseeing a doubling of the deficit... during a good economic period.

The common denominator in lowering the deficit is a democratic president. Fact.

How cute of you to post something from April, rather than any of the current articles that have been posted showing the drop in revenue compared to last year.

Trumpers are so stupid and dishonest.

Was listening to Rush on radio briefly, he says there two bills that Trump wants to make significant cuts one to the EPA and I forget the other. Not even Republicans want to pass these cuts...but want smaller ones or some such. I was driving so can't remember all specifics but again—Congress and not just Democrats don't really want to reign in spending.

Facts are troubling things sometimes.
Fact is, you don't pass these bills without a president, unless you are going to claim there was a veto and override? No? Yep, didn't think so. Dems shrink deficits, Reps make it worse. Facts are troubling things sometimes, especially when you're a republican.
