There must be a lot of money coming in for Conor on that site which seems... well, rather reeruned. I'm trying to figure out why I shouldn't bet a couple grand on Mayweather with those odds, only thing thats stopping me is the possibility of a fix.
Because betting $2k to make $363 is bad business?

Douglas trained his ass off, Tyson didnt. The result was a damned good fight and Tyson got his ass beat and hit more then once. That happens when you take a fight lightly. It was by no means luck.

That's how I see it playing out. Floyd is a great technical boxer, but with this chump he doesn't have to be. I can't wait to see McGregor hit the floor.

Looks like there are some pretty huge whales who think a bet on Mayweather is free money.

No, that's not what I mean.

A person can be a great technical boxer and still be aggressive. The key isn't to abandon technique, it's simply to apply pressure. The key to making Conor uncomfortable is pressure. He likes to set distance and pressure guys and force them backwards with his reach, force them to close a large distance, and counter. As a southpaw he uses his lead hand to trap the jab and hook, which forces fighters to come in with their power hand, which is far easier to counter.

The guy knows how to set traps. If you think he's a 'chump', you don't understand fighting.

If you eat his punches and keep moving forward, he has a tendency to panic. Nate Diaz exposed this and it's a big reason he was so successful on his feet (that and the 25 pound weight advantage).

IF floyd applies consistent pressure and forces conor to move backwards he'll probably end it early on the back of his superior boxing technique. I'm not saying 'just go out there and throw hands cuz conor sucks'.

In this realm, McGregor is a chump.

I assure you floyd knows better. He's going to dismantle Conor, no doubt. Not because he's a boxer, but because he's Money Mayweather, one of the greatest boxers of all time. If Conor wins a round I"ll be impressed. I'll be flat out amazed if he wins more.

Floyd's not going to be throwing haymakers like Peter McNeely. He's not that kind of fighter and he never has been. But we also don't know much about McGregor's actual power or speed with 10 ounce gloves. I'm sure Floyd will be respectful of his potential power early in the fight because he's an extremely intelligent fighter, but if he can pick apart a southpaw like Manny Pacquiao with defense and pot shotting, he'll have little problems with someone who left boxing for MMA when he was a teen.

You've also seen McGregor gas after just a few rounds in MMA fights, and while the rounds are longer and more strenuous, it pales in comparison to Floyd's conditioning, which is legendary.

I have no doubt that McGregor got picked apart by Paulie Malignaggi in sparring, and while he was a good fighter, Mayweather is arguably the GOAT in his weight class.

I don't know if there is a top 50 welterweight that would have a problem breaking down McGregor in a boxing ring. He's not a boxer.

While McGregor is a better athlete than CM Punk, this is the same kind of mismatch, only if Punk was going up against one of the greatest of all-time in his weight class.

I'll be amazed if Conor lands a single clean punch against Mayweather, let alone wins a round.

Yeah. My whole point topic was how Floyd can knock him out in 4 rounds or less. We all know how he can pick him apart for 12 rounds. I already said that. You're not disagreeing with me.

Conor does not have elite power for a boxer, and his hand speed isn't even remarkable in MMA.

I saw Conor gas against a guy who had a legit 21 pounds on him (in the first fight, Nate was 191 on fight day) and almost 30 pounds in the second (198 on fight day) who intelligently utilized the clinch against the cage to sap his stamina. Conor didn't 'just gas'. Nate Diaz is actually pretty good and had a HUGE weight advantage that he was smart enough to take advantage of.

Having said that, Yes... Conor will get tired long before Floyd. As you said, his stamina is legendary.

I'm not convinced Pauli picked him apart at all. First of all if he picked him apart he probably would have had fewer cuts and bruises on his face. With 16 ounce gloves and headgear, he was obviously taking some hard hits from Conor. Pauli can say "release the full sparring session' all he wants, because he damn well knows that even if (hypothetically) Conor beat his ass for 12 rounds it isn't going to happen. It's false bravado. Conor isn't going to tip off any strategy by releasing sparring footage, as being 'unknown' is the only advantage he has. It's not a big one, but Pauli knows he's not going to get rid of it.

You don't know. Can you even name 10 of those 50 welterweights? Are you just repeating the 'Best boxer in MMA can't hang with regional boxer' shit because a bunch of boxing promoters say it over and over? I don't agree with that position at all.

That's just ridiculous. CM punk was a pro wrestler with no combat experience at all when he started training MMA. To compare him with someone who's been training in combat sports since he was 10 is asinine.

TL;DR version:

I think he's a better boxer than you, but it doesn't change that he's going to get dismantled by one of the all time greats.

Again, I think people are seriously, seriously overestimating McGregor's boxing acumen. He initially trained as a boxer, yes, but if he went professional, he'd be facing guys who have tried as boxers for 15-20 years. McGregor started training as a teenager and switched to MMA as a teenager. Even with the time he spends on striking in his camps, he has put in a fraction of the time that other boxers have to perfecting their craft.

Boxing is also much more lucrative for world-class fighters than MMA, and when McGregor was growing up, boxing was a more popular sport than MMA, particularly in his native country. If he could have been a boxer, he would have been a boxer. It doesn't mean he's not a very good mixed martial artist, and "training combat sports" is irrelevant to someone's ability in boxing. Jon Jones is arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time, and he's been training in "combat sports" (namely wrestling) since he was a kid. That's not equivalent to years put in training a specific craft for Jones, and neither would is it for McGregor.

And regarding Conor lacking the cuts one would see on his face: sparring partners aren't there to hurt the A-side, they're there to test them.

Mayweather will destroy McGregor. If it was an MMA match McGregor would destroy Mayweather. Everyone knows both of these are true. This is nothing more than a cash-grab for both of them, the only real losers are the ones dumb enough to pay for it.
