Mock (3/22/13)
Might as well start mocking a 2nd rounder instead of Albert from here on out.
God. Assumptions: 1. The Chiefs trade Branden Albert to the Dolphins for a 2nd rounder. 2. The Chiefs are unable to trade down from the #1 overall. On with the show: 1. OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M I know everybody (including myself) is bummed out about the Luke Joeckel selection atop the draft. But think of it this way: he's younger, healthier, cheaper, and projects to be better than Branden Albert. That's what I see on the tape, and that's the consensus of the damn near entire scouting community. 2. OLB Sam Montgomery, LSU The Chiefs have done a really good job plugging holes (a-hyuck) on the roster this offseason. So instead of having to draft for huge holes on the roster, we can draft for sneaky ones popping up in the future. One of those will no doubt be at rushbacker, where the Chiefs currently have no depth and Tamba has a huge cap hit next year. 3. S D.J. Swearinger, South Carolina Starting caliber free safety: check. 3. WR Stedman Bailey, West Virginia I've said enough about Bailey this draft season. Speedy, experience WR that can provide a legit deep threat. 4. RB Ray Graham, Pittsburgh Graham is an extremely talented running back. He's going to be graded out lower than he deserves because of an injury concern, but the Chiefs do not need to overwork him until they're confident (the joys of having no serious holes anywhere on the roster...). Graham was playing on a bum knee for all last year and still ran for over 1,000 yards. 5. DE Joe Vellano, Maryland Vellano, I think, is this year's Derek Wolfe. 6. C Mario Benavides, Louisville If you're thinking about getting a center this late in the game, ideally you'd want one that had to go up against elite talent and held his own against legit top DL selections like Sylvester Williams and Sharrif Floyd. Benavides is 6. ILB Cornelius Washington, Georgia I can't figure out Cornelius Washington. His play at Georgia was meh, his stats were god awful. But he's got the body of a Greek god, and looks every bit the SILB part with some OLB flexibility. Meh. This is a compensatory selection anyway. 7. ILB Vince Williams, Florida State Williams is a big bodied ILB with starting SILB upside. Just throw numbers at it, why the **** not. |

Yes that would be good value. But we really gotta hope Baldwin works out or replace him with a bigger guy cause besides Bowe then we would have the new "smurfs" fun bunch @ WR.

Don't we have to get a starting ILB out of this draft?
I'm from the camp that we don't need to spend any draft picks this season on RB's or FB's. I like the depth we have just fine. We do need another C
