Football Report: Texans trading DeMeco Ryans to the Eagles

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have agreed to send linebacker DeMeco Ryans to the Eagles in exchange for an undisclosed draft choice.

The deal hinges on Ryans passing a physical Wednesday at Eagles headquarters.

Per FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, the draft pick Houston acquires for Ryans will be a “mid-rounder.”

The Eagles must not have been particularly high on what is at least perceived to be a deep free-agent inside linebacker market. They’re willing to surrender the pick, plus pick up Ryans’ remaining base salaries of $5.9 million (2012), $6.6 million (2013), and $6.8 million (2014-2015).

Curtis Lofton, David Hawthorne, and London Fletcher remain available in free agency.

UPDATE 8:00 pm. ET: The Eagles announced the deal on Tuesday evening, and they gave up a fourth-round pick in the 2012 draft in exchange for Ryans. The Eagles and Texans also swapped 2012 third-round picks.

Hell I think a fourth is a steal for him and would have been stoked to get him here.
