Reading books on the iPad isn't a strain on your eyes at all. I read quite a bit and I've never had an issue. eInk is awesome, but the iPad does just fine. Outdoor reading causes more glare than eInk, but I never read in direct sunlight. And the backlit feature is great.

And tablets are luxury devices. There's not really any point other than the enjoyment. Theyre not meant to replace a laptop.

There is no glare with e-ink, at least not on the Kindle. And my eyes are already exposed to lit screens for 8-12 hours a day, I don't feel like doing more of it when I read at home.

And I realize that tablets are luxury devices meant for enjoyment. I just don't understand how I would enjoy one, that's all.

Ehhh. Still very competitive. If they can hold that price point, they'll be fine and sell quite a bit. And you really don't need a barn burner for a processor in a tablet. Nothing you run on a tablet will tax the CPU that much, and you'd just be raising the component price by putting in more than you need.

Apple: iPad Cannibalizes Sales of Macintosh PCs

Kind of like how the IPhone cannibalizes sales of Ipods....there have been whispers that Apple might stop making IPods.

Most of the profits were due to iPhones. Are those really overpriced when compared to their other smartphone counterparts? I don't think they are.

It's simply a matter of volume. IMO, where Apple does the most markup is on its computer hardware, and that's a much, much smaller percentage of revenue.

still competitive but it has me thinking twice about upgrading now because my gtablet is already capable of 1.5 gb when the dual processor is overclocked. Hopefully we will have a working Honeycomb beta by then and I won't have to even look at this Archos tablet.

I just think 16gb is not enough. If you plan to store pictures/movies/videos/books/magazines/music/etc 16gb disappears quickly and fast. 32gb gives you some breathing room where you do not have to check the "about" and see how much space is left. 64gb is the best choice, but you're talking a ton of more money.

Also to add, you can't add space via an sd card slot.

I would always go brand new, so I would go with the ipad2 if that was my options. I am though mainly looking forward to the next ipad3 because the screen will be near or retina display. My one gripe with the ipad and ipad 2 is the screen quality.

(Currently own an ipad2 32gb with 3g)

Some will say that is why you stream all your stuff. for some, that is not a realistic option. They need just allow for a SD card slot.

I don't understand how people can argue that they are overpriced. The market helps to set prices and the market clearly indicates that the price point is in line. This is proven even more by how the competition has similar products priced below Apple, yet Apple maintains strong sales.

This is like saying that Froot Loops are priced way too high because Froot Rings are almost as good and are 35% less than Froot Loops.
