We still need help on OL.

The difference is Reid will keep throwing. 41 attempts today I think.

At the time I thought it was stupid to take 3 off the board but taking the 1st and then choosing to PIItheirB afterwards is killer instinct.

We are winning games through efficient football. And that efficient football would have led to a dominating performance if not for a few drops, in my opinion. And we are dominating in the 4th quarter because we are owning the field position game.

I know people get boners over an aerial attack, but I love this approach just as much. This is exactly the kind of Alex Smith performance we need to see, but to do that, he has to be consistently efficient which is a really tall order.

Yeah, the return did it.

I gotta be honest, I wasn't sure we were going to pull it out up until that point. We just couldn't seem to get anything going. That really seemed to turn the whole game in our favor. Huge play. It was just a cakewalk after that.

It's the first time I've seen him attempt some of those throws all season. It's hard to tell watching on tv, but I doubt the 2nd half was the first time all season those throws have been available. Whether it's game plan and/or Smith taking it on himself to attempt those passes, it was a huge improvement, despite the continued drops, O-Line issues, etc.

It's not necessarily about 50+ yard plays, and I don't think that's the only thing people wanted to see... they did a great job of working the intermediate routes today, especially in the 2nd half, which is a big improvement and will hopefully open up the run game, too.

If you look at that play where JC wasn't looking for the ball on the pass, Bowe was on an out and up and would have been open... the chemistry needed to throw it at the right time and taking that kind of shot is needed at times (granted, he dropped the next ball thrown to him). We got a taste of that in the 2nd half, with Smith taking some chances, which is promising.

Look, I think you're spot on. But I think you're being way too generous in how other people are talking about the idea offense for us. I personally think the Alex Smith we saw in Philly and against the Giants is one that can take us places. But I want to see it against elite defenses. There are a gajillion people on this board that don't think it's good enough, because they want something more explosive versus an unsexy game management philosophy.
