Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

The 336ss is going for 600-650, which is a little pricey but I like it since it's nice and shiny.

Somebody talk me out of / into it.

Nice looking set up there. I for one won't talk you out of it except maybe better deals out there. I have seen 336ss's at Basspro and Cabelas in the same price range, minus the scope and rings, with the nice checkering in the pistol grip and fore-end areas. The 336 I have I inherited from my Dad. Made in the mid 60's with the JM stamped barrel. I have dropped more deer with it than all my other deer rifles combined. You can't hardly beat it when you are hunting down and dirty in the thick brush.

or just plain stupid I heard there is a $5000 reward also. I can't imagine being able to sell them off without being caught. That's some serious time in Leavenworth for this little caper.

So I'm looking into getting my first shotgun, wanting something not only very affordable in the 2-300 range but something all purpose for defense/hunting... what I'm seeing online seems to point to a Mossberg 500 series.

Have read several favorable reviews on these, anyone agree or disagree? any better suggestions?

But I want something soon and don't have much jack to work with, the reviews seem to say they're very reliable and accurate for the dough.

All I currently have if the SHTF is a cheap 380, that's not gonna cut it.

Whoa, ok... didn't know it was a military contract piece, none of the online stuff I've read has mentioned that.

They want what I want... cheap, reliable and easy to maintain... thanks, my decision is now made, I'm getting the all black synthetic stock model.

Good choice. lots of aftermarket option for the 500 as well
If you pick a model that handles 3-1/2 inch shells?
The pump stroke will be noticeably longer then a Moss set up for 2-3/4 or 3-inch mag. If you are not a goose hunter, their is no need for 3-1/2 inch Super Mag. Honestly I'm not even sure if the 500 comes in the 3-1/2 option. The Moss 835 was the original Super-Mag,came out in the early 90s

Remington 870 pump shotgun. You can get an old one that could be used specifically for hunting, or one of the newer series that they make for home defense, or anything in between. Used, of course, for the money you want to spend.

The pawn shop near me is going to give me a call when they get one in.

Excellent home defense weapon.

Between the Remington 870 and Mossberg 500, which one does the best for both?

I really want the best value for both purposes, knock down a prowler and a pheasant with equal ability... I mean, it seems doubtful one is much more accurate than the other, what needs known is which one is most easy to maintain and reliable come rain or other bad conditions?
