Frankly, I just don't think there is much out there in the retread area. So what up and comer from the Parcells/Belichek tree is available? Maybe a college HC with a NFL background?

McDaniels got along with Belicheck. And McDaniels is in desperate need of a place to rebuild his career for a couple of years. I think Haley is smart enough to know that McDaniels can help a lot as O-coordinator, and he's stated repeatedly that his goal is to be the head coach, not just an "offense" guy.

I also think people are too negative about Haley's ability to maintain working relationships. I see too many shots of players who supposedly don't get along with Haley running over directly to him to celebrate after a big play. Haley also has a pattern of hiring people whom he has worked with in the past, so obviously he isn't some toxic character that coaches like Weis, Crennel, etc, don't want to come work with.

At some point, it's going to be Nick Siriani. Haley is grooming him. Why not just make him OC next year? McDaniels is a one and done guy, too. I think it's inevitable that he will get another HC job, either now, or in a year after being an OC.
