Tom Gamble now in mix for KC?
49ers' Tom Gamble is a Chiefs GM candidate, per report
By Joel Thorman on Jan 9, 9:12a 35 USA TODAY Sports The Chiefs have hired their coach, introducing Andy Reid at a Monday press conference. The next step is the GM and we have a new name for the candidate list -- 49ers' Tom Gamble. The Kansas City Chiefs GM search rolls on but we may have some new information this morning. Reports stated that Packers director of football operations John Dorsey was the leading candidate for the job, the "clear-cut favorite", according to one report. We also knew that Tom Heckert, the Browns GM fired this week, and Reid's former personnel man in Philadelphia, was also considered a candidate. Now for the new name: Tom Gamble, the 49ers director of player personnel. (Here is his bio.) More: The full Andy Reid press conference | Complete GM search updates | Who has final say? Until today everyone and their mother has believed the Chiefs will tab John Dorsey as their next GM. Maybe there's more searching to be done. So the full list of rumored Chiefs GM candidates as we know it:
Hunt and Reid also both said on Monday that the new GM would have final say control over personnel. |

His name has been tied to the Chiefs GM job since last week but it is apparent Joel has just now picked up on it.
It was reported last week per twitter that Dorsey, Heckert and Gamble were the three candidates. Of course Farmer was given a chance also. |

I would love Gamble, even more because it would keep him out of San Diego.
But whoever is going to see eye to eye with Reid more is my choice. |

Hopefully Gamble wouldn't trade for Alex Smith.
