I'm NOT disagreeing with you but I grew up 12 miles from there and we always wondered why anybody cared much about that. It is cool though.

Dicks.
FTR, I was cruising the historic pics thread when I contemplated making this thread. Seeing some of the pics of really cool places on that thread made me think about the Winchester House. Just thought it would be cool to see some other interesting/odd places others have visited, (or would like to visit). However, because I'm a lame-ass and don't post a million threads, I forgot to go to the main forum before making the thread. I didn't really feel it was appropriate to leave it in the Pics forum, so I asked Gonzo to move it. Although, if it gets filled w/ really cool pics, I suppose he could move it back. |

Well Dr. too****inlongofname, I visited it in the daytime and thought it was creepy/interesting for the fact that he spent so much time and effort to create such a "monument". Italian Marble IIRC and done by master craftsmen.

The Seely Mansion in Abilene is supposed to be haunted, it's a neat house even if there aren't any ghosts.
All the "haunted" houses we trespassed on as kids are all pretty much gone around here. My we had some times visiting abandoned farmsteads in the area.

Like I said it is cool and very impressive that he took the time to do it. I think it's just a thing the locals live with every day so they (we) aren't excited about it. Now I live in Illinois, not far from Hannibal MO and everyone around here thinks the fascination with Mark Twain's hometown is kind of lame. Nothing against Mark Twain it's just that Hannibal is a shitty town that isn't really worth visiting and the touristy stuff is mostly crap. The Davis Memorial is neat but (IMO) not worth a drive to see it. If you're passing through Hiawatha anyway stop by and see it.
