Oh, those silly Canucks...

Quote:
The Vancouver Canucks' third-period antics aside, the NHL also hasn't seen much like these Ducks as they cut a swath through the league on their merciless winning streak.

Corey Perry had two goals and two assists, Selanne had two goals and an assist, and the steamrolling Ducks beat Vancouver 9-1 Wednesday night for their 18th victory in 19 games.

With four Canucks in the dressing room for misconduct, Vancouver gave a late seven-minute, two-man advantage to the Ducks, who scored twice to wrap up the highest-scoring performance in the franchise's two-decade history.

As for the Avs, they keep winning at a reasonably good rate, but man, we're beat to shit right now. Last night they ended up playing only 11 forwards and 5 defensemen for basically the entire game. Right now, all of these guys are hurt (listed in my rough opinion of how valuable they are):

Erik Johnson - Played last night.
Paul Stastny - Expected to play tomorrow.
Alex Tanguay - Practiced with no pumpkin sweater today - expected back in the next week or two.
P.A. Parenteau - Expected to play Tuesday.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere - Was on the bench last night.
Cory Sarich - The one bad one - out indefinitely.
Nate Guenin - Bruise on his foot - expected back in a week or so.
David Van der Gulik - Don't know. Don't really care.

The Olympic break is going to be badly needed this year.
Apparently I just needed to bitch a little. Suddenly things are WAY better than I expected.

...Tortorella was so pissed he tried to confront the Flames coaches in their locker room during the intermission.

This day has been utter shite until I read the explanation about what happened in Vancouver tonight. I wanna buy Calgary's coach (Hartley) a beer for that move -it's exactly why hockey kicks ass.

****, I'm sure Roger Goodell is so perturbed by this incident he's trying to find some way to discipline Calgary behind Bettman's back.

What I always have found humor in is how ESPN will give wall-to-wall coverage on a "hard foul" or some sissy slap fight in the NBA, but will give a passing glance at the end of the show in regards to a line brawl in the NHL.

....whatever grabs viewers, I guess.

ESPN airs NBA games. They don't air NHL games. That's pretty much it.

First question: What the hell is going on with the Canucks? They went full douche against the Kings at Staples, did the same against the Ducks (and got face-raped), and now this?

Second question: Did anyone see the Red Wings/Kings highlights from last night? Detroit got a late 3rd period goal on a shot that literally bounced off the protective net above the glass, off of Quick's BACK, and in the goal...and they counted it.

Tortorella might be the perfect coach for the Canucks... that happened a time or two against the Devils when he was with the Rangers, too... granted, Hartley put his lineup out there first.

Yeah, that was bullshit. On one hand, I guess I understand there's only a finite number of things you can review as far as if the goal went in, if it was kicked in, etc; and they don't want a completely open-ended challenge system.... but, if all goals are reviewed, WTF?

Yep. It's ridiculous and embarrassing that this isn't reviewable.

I'll freely admit I'm somewhat of a n00b at hockey. My next door neighbor is a Kings season ticket holder and drops tickets for me and my son about 2-3 times a year (so awesome!)

I'm still learning the nuances of the game in terms of the unwritten rules of the game.

If you're looking for something strange to watch... the Ducks/Kings are about to play outdoors in Dodger Stadium. Not exactly hockey weather. On NBC Sports Net.
